Models Of Success

Dale King
According to Investordictionary, a business model (also known as a business design) is the mechanism by which a business intends to generate revenue and profits. It is a summary of how a company plans to serve its customers. It involves both strategy and implementation. It is the totality of:

How it will select its customers

How it defines and differentiates its product offerings

How it creates utility for its customers

How it acquires and keeps customers

How it goes to the market (promotion strategy and distribution strategy)

How it defines the tasks to be performed

How it configures its resources

How it captures profit

In my opinion, the best way to succeed in business is to choose a successful business model to pattern your business after. Why? Because before you can arrive at your destination, you first have to know where you're going.

After all, why reinvent the wheel, when you can simply copy already successful business models? But it all starts with a business plan - a blueprint if you will.

For example, before I built my website, GuruKnowledge.org, I already knew in my mind what type of website I wanted to build. I knew that Internet marketers, like most people were enamored with celebrity.

So I knew I wanted a website that featured the most famous and successful Internet marketers on the planet. I did some research and determined that I was going to use GuruDaq.com as one of my business models.

But I had a slight problem with GuruDaq. They select gurus based on popularity only. I think that's wrong.

I think a guru should be judged on whether or not they are competent and have superior knowledge of a subject. That's why I feature so many "gurus" on my website you've probably never heard of before.

They deserve the spotlight too, and I'm all too happy to give it to them.

There are many, many talented marketers out there whom you've never heard of before, who are every bit as qualified and talented as the popular heavy-hitters.

They just haven't been around long enough to make their mark yet. Many of them are like me, new to the Internet. But does that make them any less qualified to teach and help others?

Because to me, that's exactly what a guru does. They teach and help others. They have their own followers whom believe in their vision.

Don't get me wrong. I have the utmost respect for legendary marketers like Marlon Sanders, Corey Rudl, Dan Kennedy, Mark Joyner, Shelley Lowery and others.

However, I have an equal amount or respect for lesser known marketers like David Riklan, who happens to own the most popular self-improvement website on the planet, SelfGrowth.com.

Glen Prialde is the owner of one of the most successful article directories around, Isnare.com.

Anita Campbell is the owner and CEO of Small Business Trends LLC, a media and information company. In that role she closely follows trends in the small business market and trends in technology.

Jimmy Vee & Travis Miller are the partners of Scend advertising. They are authors, speakers, and consultants on the topic of advertising and marketing to grow business.

Another business model I chose to pattern my own business after was SearchWarp.com.

Why? Because I knew that article directories were red hot. I liked the fact that SearchWarp featured pictures of all of their authors. I had never seen that before, and it definitely made an impression on me. That's why I feature pictures of all of my authors as well.

In closing, success is as easy or as hard as you choose to make it. And it's a lot easier to travel a road that has already been paved.
