Classic Championship Wrestling - Event Wrap-up 1.23.07

Commissioner Chris Alexander kicked off live action by angrily demanding the presence of Vic the Bruiser, whom Alexander wanted to answer for his actions with Miss Holly Wood last week, among other things. Full of defiance as always, Vic immediately pressed the Commish as to who exactly he thought he was dealing with. Reeling off just a portion of his impressive resume, the formidable brawler making his impact in CCW right off the bat, then grabbed Alexander, furious over being told he was to be considered "on probation," under the terms of his "trial" contract! Switching focus for just a second, Vic called out the CCW Heavyweight Champion, "Smooth" Johnny Spade, who was all to happy to oblige, given the events surrounding his newest challenger's arrival. Starting off by letting him know things were now 'personal,' Spade then challenged Vic to a non-title main event match! Vic's verbal assault on the CCW Heavyweight Champion has been never-ending, but on his way out of the ring, he made it a strong point to let Spade know he was going to find out 'just how personal it can get!'

Dynamite Derrick vs. El Cardinal:

"The Old School Player" was back in action again this week, looking on in a little disbelief as El Cardinal, his opponent for the evening, made his way to the ringside area. The masked grappler, making his in-ring debut, is another recent star of the EMCLL promotion in the southern suburbs of Tijuana to head to the CCW Arena to further their careers.

Staying just a step ahead of the former CCW Champion at the bell, El Cardinal threw hip tosses, arm drags, and other fast-paced offensive moves as he attempted to make his first match a memorable one at Derrick's expense! The masked man was rolling, at least until Derrick hit a textbook spinebuster, quickly seizing control of the match. Angrier than usual at this point in the match, due to the unexpected resistance from his opponent, Derrick began taking it to El Cardinal, increasing the pressure with each and every hold, throwing in a couple of submission holds to further wear down the masked grappler and more importantly, ground him while Derrick plotted his next course.

Pulling away, Derrick allowed a little bit of his cocky swagger to reemerge, as a big top rope elbow drop left little doubt in his mind, and the crowd's, to be honest, that the victory was just about academic. Peeling El Cardinal from the mat, Derrick set him up for the Supa Playa Kick, but at the last moment, El Cardinal caught the former champ's leg, spinning him around for a clothesline to ignite a rally. While the comeback sparked the fans behind the newcomer, it would prove to be a short-lived comeback, as Derrick regained his bearings to connect with the SPK. Three seconds later, Derrick was on his way to the back to celebrate his latest victory on the road back to the top, and El Cardinal was on his way to check out Priceline.com for a good deal on a flight back to Mexico.

Winner of the Match: Dynamite Derrick, by pinfall

CCW Tag Team Champion Jack Black vs. Jebediah Blackhawk:

The meter was running, but it was Jack Black driving, so the fans had a brief wait before the powerhouse from The Fat N The Furious hit the ring. While Black has been simply devastating in one-on-one competition as of late, no such easy test awaited Black in the form of Jebediah Blackhawk. It may have been several lifetimes ago, by either man's way of thinking, but a key note to consider is the two tag teamed previously, so neither is a stranger in the ring to the other.

Black was trying to get into referee Paul Wood's head early, but he would go to the well once too often, providing an opening for Blackhawk to land a thunderous right hand, taking the big man to the canvas! While Blackhawk would drive the big man to the floor on two occasions early on, when the two managed to lock up proper for the first time in the match, the advantage would shift to Black, and in the blink of an eye, Blackhawk was in a bad way as Black used some more time on the outside of the ring to lay on the damage.

Looking to put Blackhawk away, Black would miss a huge front somersault from the top rope, setting it up for Blackhawk to score the win after a huge chokeslam! This win will no doubt propel Blackhawk upwards in the CCW singles rankings. Not satisified at all with the way his night turned out, Black attacked Blackhawk following the bell, then grabbing a chair from ringside to finish the job. While the security staff does a great job during CCW live events, there is a world of difference between crowd control and controlling Jack Black, as the two members of the staff would soon find out, as the big man simply crushed both men with the chair. Before Black could continue working over the fallen Jebediah Blackhawk, Vito Andretti raced from the back with a wrench in his hand, putting a stop to this potentially dangerous situation. Another angry confrontation between the Tag Team Champions was off and running, but Black ended it by walking back to the locker room, but not before giving a final warning to Andretti about "sticking his nose" in anymore of his business! In what has become a disturbing pattern as of late, Andretti was standing alone in the ring, but this time he too had something for his partner to hear- that as long as they were Tag Team Champions, Black's business was his business!

Winner of the Match: Jebediah Blackhawk, by pinfall

Commissioner Chris Alexander then stepped into the ring, calling out The Prophet for an interview. Alexander's attempts to get some answers or an explanation from JesseBell regarding the situation last week proved ultimately unsuccessful, so maybe the Cherokee warrior would be able to provide a little more information. Having no more idea than the rest of the people in the building as to what has caused the rift between himself and his former manager, Prophet would not be much help there, but as far as he was concerned, it didn't matter, as he feels he has more than proved himself to the fans in CCW, with or without JesseBell in his corner!

Prophet would have elaborated farther, but as he spoke, "Playboy" Scott Hayes had heard enough, sliding into the ring and attacking Prophet from behind the brawl was quick and intense, but Hayes would wind up back on the floor, making a retreat as his opponent in the evening's main event was apparently not finished sending messages!

The H.N.I.C. (Apollo & JB Thunder) vs. Biff Wellington III & Shawn Dolphin:

Apollo and JB Thunder were ready to take another win in tag team competition. Facing off against the veteran tandem was the pairing of Biff Wellington III and Shawn Dolphin, a young man hailing from Canada and the latest in a wave of talent that's been entering Classic Championship Wrestling in the past few weeks.

While Dolphin would start out strong against JB Thunder, tagging in BW3, who wasted little time in scoring not only a near-fall, but the world-renowned Ole! Kick before bringing Dolphin back into the match. For a first time teaming together, Wellington and Dolphin seemed to have a good general flow, but before long, experience took over, and Thunder would steer Dolphin into the H.N.I.C.'s corner. It would be all Apollo and Thunder at this point, as the cagey veterans would cut the ring off and punish the newcomer, baiting BW3 into the ring on numerous occasions to further the damage on Dolphin.

Heading round the corner, Thunder would lock on a sleeper, but Dolphin would have just enough left in the tank and escape to tag in Wellington, literally ready to explode waiting to get back into the match. Bedlam would break out at this point, and as Dolphin and Thunder continued to battle in the ring, Apollo and BW3 were brawling away on the outside. Unfortunately for the young Shawn Dolphin, he never saw Apollo knock BW3 for a loop, which left him easy pickings for the H.N.I.C., who would waste little time in planting him with the dreaded "N**** Please!" top rope legdrop, and then the pin.

Winner of the Match: The H.N.I.C., by pinfall

INTERMISSION SEQUENCE During the intermissions at Classic Championship Wrestling events, the stars often come out and mingle with the fans, an opportunity for everybody to get closer to the action. Tonight would be no exception, although it would play host to one of the most shocking moments in the young history of the promotion! As Miss Holly Wood was making her way around ringside, Vic the Bruiser would emerge from the back, and before the petite blond knew what hit her, she was hurled in the ring by the newest CCW superstar! The "probationary" status obviously doesn't impress The Bruiser! Unsuccessfully trying to escape, Miss Holly Wood would fall victim to the Vic Driver! As referees flooded the ring, with "Smooth" Johnny Spade, Biff Wellington III, and Vito Andretti in hot pursuit, security would also get involved, as they would have no shortage of difficulty in trying to keep Spade and Vic from colliding outside the ring! This has quickly escalated into an all-out war between Spade and Vic the Bruiser, and one can only wonder how much more violent this is going to get in the upcoming weeks. Expect a near-riot when these two finally face each other in an actual match!

Elmore Fudd (w/Elma Fudd) vs. Lincoln Walker:

In the final CCW in-ring debut of the evening, Lincoln Walker stood across the ring from the always crafty Elmore Fudd, with Elma Fudd at ringside for her own usual brand of moral support. While Fudd's path hasn't quite defined itself so far this year, I would suggest its only a matter of time before you start seeing Fudd make some major moves in CCW.

While Fudd was crisp and efficient at the beginning of the match, Walker soon rallied to drive his opponent to the floor to regroup. Looking to settle down and take control, Walker would find that no easy task, as Fudd was relentless, bearing down on Walker before dumping him outside for some boots, courtesy of the always dangerous Elma Fudd! Following her act, Fudd returned to the floor to take more shots on the prone Walker. Fudd's strategy seemed sound enough, as he kept Walker off-balance enough to where any offense was quickly and efficiently cut off by the wily veteran.

Ducking a clothesline, Walker would connect with a spear, leaving both men struggling to beat the referee's ten count. While Fudd made it to his feet first, Walker would not be far behind, and as Fudd reversed an Irish whip, Walker would make his opponent pay, turning that opportunity into a middle rope clothesline. Sensing danger ahead, Elma Fudd was on the ring apron in a heartbeat, drawing the attention of referee Jeremy MacKenzie away from the match. Seizing the moment, as any good hunter does, Elmer Fudd caught Walker off-guard the second he needed, hitting The Buckshot for the three count!

Winner of the Match: Elmore Fudd, by pinfall

The Prophet vs. "Playboy" Scott Hayes (w/JesseBell):

The situation between The Prophet and JesseBell has been leading up to this moment, and as she lead her new charge "Playboy" Scott Hayes to the ring, one could only imagine what Prophet had in store for the match ahead. It had already been a wild night, and the main event was going to be absolutely no different!

Before the match began, Hayes and JesseBell would try to rally the CCW faithful behind them, but all that would accomplish was driving the house to rattle plaster loose from the ceiling in an unbelievable show of support for The Prophet! Mostly unfazed, Hayes would continue to showboat at any given moment, and with the mood the Playboy was in, that even meant a strut for scoring a hip toss or a body slam on the big man. Simmering to a boil at this point, Prophet would assert himself with force upon Hayes, until a missed splash catapulted him over the top rope in a nasty fall. To add further insult to injury, JesseBell would literally walk across Prophet on her way around the ring as Hayes took back the advantage, keeping his opponent off his feet with more roughhouse tactics than earlier on in the match.

From her vantage point, JesseBell was taking sheer delight in mocking her former client, but Prophet was not down and out yet. Catching Hayes off the top rope and delivering a belly-to-belly overhead suplex. Going for the pin, Prophet would be denied as JesseBell placed Hayes' foot on the rope, breaking the count. This, of course, led to the argument everybody had been waiting on, but as usual, JesseBell knew exactly what she was doing, as Hayes would run interference with the ref, allowing the conniving young manager to spray Prophet in the face with something.

Winner of the Match: "Playboy" Scott Hayes, by pinfall

In a night full of debuts and controversy, the long march through winter may just be half over, but the intrigue is just starting in Classic Championship Wrestling. With the CCW Heavyweight title picture heating up and several brutal battles ahead for "Smooth" Johnny Spade, increasing friction in The Fat N The Furious, and now the quest for revenge by The Prophet on former manager JesseBell, there is a very good reason the fans always leave talking, and then always come back to see if they are proved right in the end.

Classic Championship Wrestling presents live action every Tuesday night at the CCW Arena, 3327 Northwestern Parkway in Louisville, Kentucky. Doors open at 7:00pm, with a bell time of 7:30. General admission is $3. For more information on Classic Championship Wrestling: http://www.ccwevents.com
