Vice President Dick Cheney's Defense Of Iraq War Is "Hogwash"

Robert Paul Reyes
America is the greatest country in the world, but we are beset with many vexing problems. There is no consensus on how to deal with the issues of energy, immigration, crime, health care and unemployment.

But there is a clear consensus that the Iraq war is an unmitigated disaster. Politicians, pundits and voters may disagree on what to do at this juncture, but the vast majority of Americans agrees that the Iraq war is a monumental blunder.

It’s not just Americans who deplore Bush’s Iraq strategy — the whole damn world is infuriated with the Bush Administration.

The White House is an isle of insanity; to gain entrance you have to enter a rabbit’s hole. Bush and Cheney continue to issue statements, in reference to the Iraq war, that run counter to reality and common sense.

Vice President Dick Cheney makes Darth Vader look like Mr. Rogers. He is determined to plow ahead with his insane Iraq policy.

From CNN.Com:

Vice President Dick Cheney on Wednesday dismissed as “hogwash” the suggestion that blunders may have hurt the administration’s credibility on Iraq.

In an interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, conducted a day after Bush delivered his State of the Union address, Cheney was asked to respond to some Republicans in Congress who “are now seriously questioning your credibility, because of the blunders and the failures.”

To that, Cheney answered, ‘Wolf, Wolf, I simply don’t accept the premise of your question. I just think it’s hogwash.’”

Cheney, Cheney, most Americans are aghast at your refusal to accept reality. Your rational for going to war is hogwash. Your plans for battling the insurgency and running the occupation is hogwash. Your rosy assessment of how the war is going is hogwash. Your intent to send 21,500 more American soldiers to Iraq is hogwash. Your refusal to listen to the wishes of Congress and the American people is hogwash.

From CNN.Com:

Cheney said the administration is committed to moving ahead with its plan to send more troops to Baghdad, even if Congress passes a resolution in opposition.”

Congress needs to implement the mandate of the American people and bring our troops home. The time for meaningless resolutions opposing the “surge” is over.

It’s time for Congress to dry up the funding for this insane war. It’s time for the impeachment of President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney.

It’s time for the American people to protest until Congress takes serious action to put an end to this immoral and disastrous war.
