Mainstream media has failed Ameirca
The American public is suffering and desperately so. They are being fed a constant barrage of mainstream propaganda oftentimes so subtle we don’t even know our perception of reality is being manipulated. “Our job is to give people not what they want, but what we decide they ought to have.” -Richard Salant, former President of CBS News.
How can American citizens make effective decisions regarding America's future and how to address their representatives with out factual information? How can our elected representatives who frequently sign off on legislation without ever reading it or even having an idea what it is about pass legislation beneficial to the country?
Truth is often redefined in terms no one can understand, or most important issues of our time are not discussed at all. Importance of a strong and independent news media to represent rights of the people to know what the government is doing has become secondary to media slanted news designed to shape public opinion in reality of the writer instead of what is true. “People shouldn't expect the mass media to do investigative stories. That job belongs to the 'fringe' media.”-Ted Koppel
One can look at any article and review adverbs and adjectives that color basic news story’s to reflect opinion of authors of the news outlet they work for. More importantly exclusion of all facts related to who, what, when where and how; or selective inclusion of specific facts also defines evel of truth associated with the story. Bill Moyers: "Virtually everything the average person sees or hears outside of her own personal communications, is determined by the interests of private, unaccountable executives and investors whose primary goal is increasing profits and raising the country's share price. More insidiously, this small group of elites determines what ordinary people do not see or hear."
It appears mainstream media thinks they are omniscient and responsible as gatekeepers for information they disseminate. That elitist attitude establishes what they think about readers and voters of America. They treat us all like we are Joe Six Pack, just arriving home after a hard day’s work digging ditches with our limited cognizant abilities or they treat us like mushrooms to be kept in the dark and fed a steady diet of waste to nourish us.
Llack of faith in ability of a free public to understand and effectively participate in a democratic form of self governance betrays a corollary position that must exist. Mainstream media is making a judgment about republican form of governance of by and for the people governed. They by their actions indicate they think self governance is not possible, and the only effective form of government is authoritarian elitist government.
They underestimate intelligence of the American public. People of this country are forced to seek other sources for truth in news reports or to check multiple versions to develop some modicum of veracity of reports presented. That transfer to other sources is reflected in decline of numbers of readers for papers and viewers for mainstream network news shows.
It would serve America much better if mainstream media was not so condescending and judgmental about what the public can and can not understand about specific news. We can take the truth and act accordingly.
Failure to address important issues of the day, do not make those issues disappear. They only become suppressed subjects resurrected on websites of conspiracy theorists who trust no one and get others to do the same. Paranoia of these groups creates distance between the public and government. In many instances however paranoia is fully justified. It is not paranoia if the fear is based on truth.
Topics most noticeable by their absence include, the United States/Mexico Totalization Agreement, Security Prosperity and Partnership of North America, the North American Union, hate crimes directed against EuroAmericans, homosexual crimes and murders against any other group, the New Word Order, or the One World Government, Corporate welfare, politics of disease with accuracy of disease impact and costs in relation to each other, causes for our failed education system related to indoctrination instead of education, and failure to recognize other topics that have major impact on our society.
Failure to investigate and provide accurate information about topics of critical importance to the future sovereignty of our country makes more grist for rumor mills and vivid imaginations of the public who create perceptions of reality as wrong as those perceptions created and presented by mainstream media.
Neither result is beneficial for a free and democratic society. Public discussion should be encouraged for all important issues regardless of what they may be but priorities should be placed on topics related to the very basic structure of our beings as a nation and as a people under a government that derives its consent to govern from the people.
Mainstream media must regain its journalistic integrity and assume its duty as a watchdog for liberty and freedom for America’s sake. We need public debate of valid issues being ignored. The American public is a lot more intelligent, fair, and capable of self governance than mainstream media can imagine. We can "handle the truth" and we can handle our own governance. “As for me, Give me Liberty or Give me death.” Patrick Henry.
The very word 'secrecy' is repugnant in a free and open society; and we are, as a people, inherently and historically opposed to secret societies, to secret oaths, and to secret proceedings.”-John F. Kennedy, address to newspaper publishers, 1961-Apr-27
