One Mother in Crawford, Texas
Cindy Sheehan’s 24 year old son, Casey, was killed in Bagdad. She tells the world that she met with Mr. Bush two months after his death, and she is very critical of how the president treated her. She says that he didn’t even know her son’s name, and acted as if the meeting was a party and even called her “Mom” during their meeting, which she considered to be disrespectful.
Certainly the most troubling aspect of Cindy Sheehan’s plight is the president’s refusal to talk about where we stand with the future of the war with Iraq now. Mr. Bush simply continues to insist on his old refrain, “We will stay the course, we will will complete the job in Iraq.” The American public knows very well that things in Iraq are not going well on many fronts, and certainly deserve a fuller, more honest discussion led by the commander-in-chief.
