Doing What Works by Dr. John Demartini

“I became so successful in my business I stopped doing what worked.”

Yes this is an old cliché, but so many business people today need just such a reminder to boost their productivity and profits.

I believe that using a Daily Business Checklist works wonders. It adds greatly to accountability and assists immensely in building greater business success.

Imagine asking yourself for just a moment the following questions.

Have you ever known what business building steps to do, but just didn’t do them?

Have you ever become so busy that you forgot those business-building basics?

Have you ever said at the end of the day, Oh ____, I forgot to do ____ today?

Well, if you are like many business people you have probably forgotten at least a few of those many proven business building steps during the day, and you could benefit from having a Daily Business Checklist or Reminder. I call my Business Daily Checklist, the “Daily Did I List”.

What follows, is a selected portion of daily reminders or daily business building steps that helped me build a successful international business. When I did them each day in my business it certainly improved my management efficiency, client numbers and certainly my resultant bottom line.

They way to get the most productivity out of the “Daily Did I List” is simply to:

1. Read the entire list every evening after you have seen your last client or completed your last task.

2. [check ] the box off if you truly and masterfully did the business building step.

3. [ X ] the box off if you did not truly and masterfully do the business building step or forgot it entirely.

4. Read this list again each morning before you begin seeing clients or executing tasks, as a reminder and boost.

5. Concentrate your efforts throughout the day on those business-building steps you forgot or did not masterfully perform the day before.

6. If you see a repeating trend in what you are forgetting to do, or are not fully mastering these steps, either:

a. Practice rehearsing those business building steps in between client appointment times or tasks until you master them.

b. Seek out a person of authority to help make you become more accountable, such as a consultant or mentor.

c. Set up a reward and punishment system for yourself to help make you do them – according to your true higher values.

7. If you think of or hear about any other proven business building steps to include on your Daily Did I List, then be sure to add them to the list as you grow along.

Now, here is a portion of my selected list:

Did I read my business purpose statement and my new and established client or business goals and strategies at the beginning of today?

Did I review the business appointment schedule in advance today?

Did I complete the necessary client or business related paper work today?

Did I speak with certainty and not use insecure statements when I spoke today?

Did I focus and become present during each meeting or project today?

Did I smile and show my appreciation and love for my clients and my business today?

Did I make sure that each of my staff or team members were on track with their schedules and responsibilities today?

Now that you have read through a portion of the Daily Business Checklist or the “Daily Did I List” you can see that reading this list at the beginning and end of every business day could make a huge difference in your business performance and bottom line.

One of my corporate consulting clients that used the daily Did I list consistently stated:

Dear Dr. Demartini

Using the daily checklist is like having you keep an eye on me from over my shoulders. It makes me more consistently do the actions that make my business grow best. I lied to myself before I began using the list. Now the list makes me more honest. It has made me more accountable. Thank you for providing me with a boot.”

Like for this particular business client, you probably need a reminder of the basics at times.

So why nor provide yourself with your own accountability system like the “Daily Did I List,” so you can do what works. It has worked wonders in businesses around the world and it will work the same for yours.
