Cake icing is an important decoration for all cakes and cookies. Icing mainly adds flavor, texture, and feel to the yummy cakes. There are many types of icing that can be easily prepared at home for cake decoration.

Butter-cream icing is one of the oldest and the most popular form of icing with a sweet flavor and a flawless texture. It is prepared by blending butter and sugar is the right proportion.

Flat icing is really simple to make using a blend of powdered sugar and water. It is mainly spread on pastries and biscuit rolls to add a new flavor and texture.

Cream cheese icing is a yummy combination of cream cheese, butter, and icing sugar. It is mainly used to give a fluffy look to the cake especially on carrot cakes and cupcakes.

Glazes are also a form of icing prepared using a fruit flavor. It has a thin watery texture but when poured on cakes it transforms to a hard crisp shell to make beautiful decorative. It mainly helps in improving the shelf life of cakes and chocolates.

Meringue is an American-style cake frosting prepared using a combination of egg whites, caster sugar, and water. This form does not have a long life but is awesome in both appearance and flavor.

Ganache is a rich chocolate icing made using a mixture of dark chocolate and cream. It gives a shiny and beautiful feel to the cakes adding to its aesthetics. This type of icing looks and tastes good with mud cake and almond cake.
