Subject: You must resign
Dear Sir:
We, Nepalese, rise today by organizing this rally, to speak against the gravest harm being done to our beloved country, Nepal, by you and your communists and terrorists allies. As long as you remain in power mismanaging our country and placating the Maoists criminal gang, as long as the country continues to move in the current path of disorder, violence and chaos, not only peace and democracy will never return, we will lose our country.
Mr. Koirala, you came to power undemocratically and every action you have taken with the support of your communists and terrorists allies are neither constitutional nor democratic nor reconciliatory. Furthermore, your actions, instead of leading towards a genuine democracy, cooperation, peace, security, and stability in the country, have created fertile ground for more chaos, confrontation and violence. Evidently, this has lead to more deaths and destructions in the country.
Once again, we want to remind you that the people of Nepal did not elect you in a democratically held election. To the contrary, you have come to power by using violence and terrorism. Therefore, we refuse to accept your legitimacy unless and until you are elected by the Nepalese people in a free and fair election. Manifestly, you cannot be the Prime Minister.
To violently force the King to reinstate the House of Representatives, which was dissolved more than four years ago by a duly elected Prime Minister, was not only unconstitutional but also totally undemocratic. Hence, any resolution passed by this so-called Parliament is unconstitutional and illegitimate.
Sadly, it is abundantly clear that the Nepalese people cannot recall your previous administrations with pride nor look towards the future with hope. It will be only more of the same from you. As long as you are in power, you will cause a grievous and irreparable harm to our country. We simply cannot afford your leadership anymore.
Furthermore, we also demand that an independent judicial inquiry commission be established immediately to look into the massive abuse of power and corruption that took place during your previous administrations.
In addition, we repeat our demand that an independent government be established without delay in order to hold free and fair parliamentary elections at the earliest time as established by the 1990 Constitution. This is the Constitution established by the people. They have endorsed this Constitution by consecutively voting in three general elections. Let the people of Nepal make the ultimate decision about the nature and character of the Constitution and the shape of our government. If any one wants to change the Constitution, they should first get a mandate from the people by participating in an election. Considering the manner of your grab for power, your utterance of people’s sovereignty rings hollow in our ears. The people of Nepal have not granted you a mandate to change the Constitution.
We also demand that all the security personnel who were accused of wrong doing during the fog of war and the heat of the battle must be freed immediately. It would be a great injustice to force them to languish in jail while the biggest mass murderers are roaming around the country freely and are being invited to take over the reigns of power. Our security personnel did not choose this war. It was a war they did not start. They were forced to fight in one of the most unjustifiable wars in the history of mankind. In fact, it is high time that we showed our deepest appreciation and gratitude for their bravery in the battlefield and their ultimate sacrifice in defense of our freedom and security. Without their pivotal role, our country would have quickly fallen into the hands of the terrorists.
We will never accept the outrageous and unjust agreement you have signed with the Maoist terrorists on Nov, 21, 2006. The Maoists criminal gang must be brought to justice for the crime they have committed against humanity, not welcomed to our government.
Mr. Koirala, the Nepalese people will never allow you to decimate our long-established institutions and our hard-fought democracy so that you can fulfill your own political ambitions. You have yet to understand the courage and determination of our people. You are wrong and we are right. We will right the wrong in Nepal. We will not rest until justice, peace and freedom prevail in Nepal. You will lose and we will win.
If you have any commitment to peace and democracy, any love for your country, and any decency, we want you to step down now before it becomes too late for Nepal.
Thank you.
