Sixty years after it first went to court, the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court has pronounced judgment in the Ayodhya title suit, saying Hindus and Muslims are joint title holders.

Before the verdict all the sensitive areas were on alert, schools and colleges were classed, the streets were empty and big cities were like desert, you were hardly getting the daily life needs, the verdict came 3:30 pm, and before we go into the verdict, let us look back the history of the religious dispute.

Mir Baqri, a noble under Mughal emperor built the Barbi mosque in 1528 in Ayodhya, the Hindus claim it was built on a temple which is the birthplace of "Ram".

In 1949, idol of Ram appears inside the mosque, allegedly placed by some Hindus, muslims protest and both parties file civil suits.

In 1986 faizabad district judge orders the gates of the shrine to be opened to Hindus for worship, Babri Masjid Action Committee formed shortly thereafter.

In Dec 16 1992, the Babri mosque was demolished.

Nearly 500 years after the mosque was constructed and about two decades since it was demolished, a verdict of the religious dispute has come out, that The site of the mosque would be split between two Hindu groups and one Muslim group

The Congress and the Hindu right — the RSS, the BJP and the VHP — welcomed the judgment. While the Muslims said they were "disappointed" and that they would appeal the decision to the Supreme Court. General Secretary AIMPLB Maulana Nizamuddin said "The verdict is against us. The order for the division of land could not be implemented". And Shia cleric Maulana Kalbe Jawad reacted "The verdict is disappointing, will go the Supreme Court".
