Yogi Berra said: "It's tough to make predictions, especially about the future." While I can't predict the outcome of the 2010 elections, I can tell you this:
Republicans will ratchet up the attacks and insinuations. Karl Rove's billionaire buddies will keep writing checks. And those checks will pay for plenty of dirty deeds. Republican-leaning groups are outspending Democratic ones by a massive 10-to-1 margin.
We know what we need to do. The DSCC must raise $490,430 in grassroots contributions in the next 48 hours. Your gift of $5 or more will help build on our momentum in states like Missouri and Kentucky, where new polling shows we're gaining ground. We'll lose our competitive edge when they take a hatchet to public education and a chain saw to student loans. We'll lose control of our fiscal destiny when they give another $700 billion in tax cuts to millionaires. And we'll lose our ability to keep our most powerful pledge to our veterans when they kill the VA and hand our veterans' health care over to greedy corporate interests.
