All The World will be Fat …Except People Eating Luqaimat
The conclusion of this research comes in line with many previous studies which warn of the repercussions of this worldwide obesity epidemic in the near future.
Based on my experience, I found that reducing meal volumes is the major factor in managing obesity, and that reducing meal volumes for long is best achieved by a long-term training on small-volume meals ("Luqaimat"), till it becomes a habit.
Similar to drug addiction, eating large volumes of food stimulates the feeding centers of the brain leading to craving for further larger volumes of food. I believe that we can reverse this vicious circle by long-term training on the small-volume meals (Luqaimat).
Luqaimat is an Arabic word for the minimum amount of food that should be eaten in order to provide the required energy. Each Luqaimat maybe one fruit or vegetable, a small piece of any bakery, sweets, or chocolate, or three to five units of nuts, and so on. In my diet plan, I recommend to my patients to eat Luqaimat every 2- 3 hours.
This Luqaimat diet plan allows for a moderate-sized meal, which is composed of 2 cups of green salad with 1 table spoonful of olive oil and dressing, 1.5 cups of vegetables and carbohydrates, 1 slice of animal protein (preferably fish or poultry), and 1 small piece of sweets.
In 2005, I started advising few hundreds of my patients to follow this Luqaimat diet plan.
In 2008, I postulated my theory of the presence of a satiety area at the gastric fundus which I named: Elhashemy´s Stomach Satiety Spot "ESSS". This area is sensitive – according to my theory – to the touch applied to it by any solid food (such as almonds). This will stimulate the hypothalamic satiety center. Of course the pathway is mediated through the vagus nerve fibers. This leads to early satiety, less intake of food, and consequently a great loss of weight.
In 2009, few thousands of obese Egyptians followed the Luqaimat diet plan with impressive results that encouraged more people to follow this diet.
In 2010, several thousands of obese people in many Arab countries followed my innovated Luqaimat diet plan with great success in losing their extra body weight.
I hope that in the near future Luqaimat diet, which proved to all whom have followed it to be the most convenient and healthiest diet plan, will help in fighting the world´s obesity epidemic.
