Game Ball: New York Jets QB Mark Sanchez

Jonathan Ragus
NEW YORK, NY --- Every week I will hand out a game ball to a player from either the New York Jets, New York Giants or Buffalo Bills for an incredible game that guides their team to a must needed win. Actually all wins in the National Football League are must needed, especially in New York where the fans and

media will have your head on a platter by the next morning.

This week's game ball goes to Jets quarterback Mark Sanchez for many reasons.

Sanchez out dueled the great Tom Brady of the New England Patriots for a 28-14 win on Sunday in New Jersey. Not only was it a must win for Gang Green after a terrible looking loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Monday Night Football but Sanchez silenced all the haters and critics as well with this win.

Sanchez took the game into his hands after the 1st quarter completing 21 of 30 pass attempts for 220 yards and 3 touchdowns. He had more completions in less attempts then rival Brady on the day. Another highlight was that Sanchez didn't throw any interceptions this game, Brady threw two.

The haters came out in packs Tuesday morning after Sanchez looked terrible in the opening game against the Ravens, but as I stated here on MVP Gotham it wasn't entirely the fault of Mark Sanchez.

Offensive Coordinator Brian Schottenheimer drew up a disgusting, conservative playbook for the evening where Sanchez hardly threw the ball and if he did it was for 2-3 yard screen patterns. That didn't work well at all for the Jets and didn't sit well with their fans who crave touchdowns. Defense will help you win games, but if you do not score you will not win. YOU WILL NOT WIN. Period.
