The Time Has Come, the Walrus said. . .
For the record, I’ve been around since FDR, spent time in Thailand with the Marines before Vietnam became an issue, and returned to work against the Vietnam war. After the war was over, I kept my mouth shut, for the most part anyway, right up until the 2000 presidential election. Since then, like many of the rest of you, I’ve become totally disenchanted with both political parties. All that a person has to do is watch Cspan for a few days to know that what is said before a vote is a lot different from the tally afterwards. Both parties care a lot more for the God Almighty Dollar, than they do for the quality of life on God’s Green Earth.
So, my question for everyone is “When the HELL are we going to start doing what we all know needs to be done?”
Each of our voices alone is little more than a whisper in a tornado. We need a philosophical union, a grounding in principles, and the strength to abide by what we believe. I don’t have all the answers, no individual can, but I do have a direction and a desire to see things start getting better before it’s time for me to go. I’ve given a name to what I believe is the basic thread of the cloth we’re cut from. I call it the Mutualist Alliance.
Nothing would give me greater pleasure than to have people read about what it is, critique the content, and let it be a seed for generating something we can all agree on. The time for talk has been greatly exceeded - without any real action to bring us together. Check in to www.sturino.com, check out the Mutualist Alliance, think about it, and post your comments. As an engineer I used to believe in the principle that ‘a camel is a horse designed by a committee’. It might still be true, but there is no denying that we are in desperate need of a new camel. Be a part of the design process. And again I ask, “When the HELL are we going to start doing what we all know needs to be done?”
