Another Milestone!

With the execution of Saddam Hussein dominating the news these days let us not forget that this cycle of revenge, fighting vengeance with vengeance is only going to lead to more of our American soldiers dying on foreign soil. As the media focuses on Saddam's death the death toll of our American troops has now reached 3000.

What a sad way for all of those 3000 families to start the New Year! Just think about it! 3000 families left to mourn their children, their siblings, their spouses, their parents as we begin the New Year.

Let us never forget that this war that our President launched was an unjust war, planned years prior to the 9/11 attack on our shores, by that now, nearly defunct think tank PNAC, whose members included nearly all of the Presidents cabinet. So we have him and them to thank, not only for the toppling of Saddam Hussein but also for the deaths of 3000 of our brave young men and women plus the 1000’s of wounded who will live the remainder of their lives with their handicaps.

This 3000 milestone comes even as President George W. Bush is weighing options, including sending more troops, for the deteriorating situation in Iraq, where daily violence plagues Baghdad and much of the country and has killed tens of thousands of Iraqis.

Another milestone we would rather forget!
