Bono To Receive Honorary Knighthood

Judy Ramsook
Back in the ‘90s when I first heard U2’s hit single titled, ‘ I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For,’ the song hit an important note in my soul. For here was a song that said everything I had been thinking about not quite being able to find what it is I was seeking in life.

According to the song’s meaning, one can go through his/her entire life doing all the things he/she thinks will satisfy him/her, but still not be able to find that one thing or aspect of life for which he/she is seeking.

And most of us have probably found ourselves at those familiar crossroads of life at some point. For those who have been a little lost at times in their lives, or searching but not finding what they are looking for, here is one song that will indeed live on forever.

Bono, real name, Paul Hewson, and U2’s lead singer, did a wonderful job of the lyrics of that song to such good music. And in light of all of the charity work Bono has accomplished over the years through his music and his own personal choice to satisfy those less fortunate, I was not surprised when I recently learned that the Irish entertainer/song writer is to receive an honorary knighthood.

He will receive the award early in the new year by Ambassador David Reddaway.

Of course, when the Queen Of England bestows such a title to someone, it is because of the things he has accomplished in assistance to the Commonwealth.

And in Bono’s case, as previously stated, it is for the work he has done to aid those in need through his music and charitable work. Although Bono is to be knighted, no one will be able to refer to him as ‘Sir.;

The reason for this is, in order to use the title, ‘ Sir’ one has to be a British citizen. Bono is Irish. As for the song? Whenever I hear it, it still reminds me of that period in my life when I was in search of what I was looking for.
