The Struggle Continues!

Joseph Raglione
Gentle readers of this American Chronicle, the struggle for social justice, world peace and a cleaner and safer environment is not over. Not by a long shot! I ask you to give the Democrats a large majority in government and then literally push them back on track towards 1. A reduction in Green House Gas 2. A Universal Health Care policy for all Americans. 3. An end to the War in Afghanistan. We have come a long way to arrive at this point and to quit now would be a travesty! An injustice to your children and to the children of the World who are presently counting on us to change our destructive social and environmental behavior patterns...>

Dear Joseph,

Nothing is a sure bet in politics - but here's one thing I'm absolutely certain of: Without the help of our dedicated grassroots supporters - people just like you! - we would not have met our August fundraising goal. Meeting each and every target will determine where we can compete in November - and how hard we can fight to keep our majority. In this battle, every single seat counts, and President Obama is counting on us to help move our country forward.

So thank you so much for your continued support. You've done everything we've asked of you - and more. You have my sincere gratitude.

Let me tell you where we stand.

Republicans are coming after Democrats

Republicans believe they can take back the Senate, and they're getting lots of corporate help.

Republican candidates are getting a HUGE and growing assist from a shady network of right-wing groups led by Karl Rove's American Crossroads. In fact, these secretive and unaccountable merchants of slime have upped the ante and now say they plan to spend more than $400 million - an astonishing amount - to elect Republicans and reinstate their destructive agenda.

Rove's group has already run ads promoting Republicans and bashing Democrats in California, Nevada, Ohio, Kentucky, Pennsylvania and New Hampshire. In fact, this group alone is prepared to spend $52 million in an effort to bring back the Bush policies that nearly destroyed our economy.

We also just received word that Rove's group plans to spend $10 million on a massive get-out-the-vote program in eight battleground states including Colorado, Florida, Kentucky, Missouri, Nevada and Washington. This is the same type of program that helped turn out conservatives for Bush in 2000 and 2004.

Republicans have been on the air in at least 26 states, which shows just how determined they are to take back the majority. They need only win 10 states to seize control and begin rolling back all the progress you and President Obama have worked together to make.

Fight back now! Your immediate gift of $5 or more could help get the vote out for Barbara Boxer and Russ Feingold, or get the truth out about Tea Party heroes Sharron Angle and Rand Paul.

Democrats are going on the offensive

We're defining our opponents and pushing back against their lies and attacks.

Recent poll numbers show growing strength in three important states currently represented by Republicans - Louisiana, Kentucky and North Carolina. We're working with individual campaigns to define the opposition and motivate Democratic voters using grassroots methods both old (canvassing and rallies) and new (social networking sites and other new media.)

Currently, we are running crucial early TV ads in Missouri, Pennsylvania and Colorado in support of three great Democrats: Robin Carnahan, Joe Sestak and Michael Bennet. Being on TV this soon neutralizes the opposition's attacks and helps our candidates enter fall on a level playing field.

Going on the offensive certainly isn't cheap, but we're able to do it because of the support of grassroots Democrats like you. Your continued support will ensure that we make the most of opportunities that arise in these final two months. The map is constantly shifting, and having resources available allows us to give immediate help to a candidate who's being attacked, or provide a few extra workers to get out the vote. It can make a HUGE difference - and even turn a red seat blue.

This election won't be a cakewalk. History is on the Republicans' side, and in this fight for the majority, we can't take even a single seat for granted. But I also know this: In 2006 and 2008, you and hundreds of thousands of other grassroots supporters came together and changed history. This is no time to let Republicans seize power and drag us backward. Let's keep moving forward.

Sincerely,

Sen. Bob Menendez

P.S. In our fight for the majority, every seat matters. Your immediate gift of $5 or more could help get the vote out for Barbara Boxer and Russ Feingold, or get the truth out about Tea Party heroes Sharron Angle and Rand Paul.

About Joseph Raglione
Hi! I am the executive director of the World Humanitarian Peace and Ecology Movement. I began as an environmental activist in 1969 and basically, never stopped! I Graduated College in Social Science and registered as a non-profit corporation in 1988 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. I am one of a very few non-profit and generic freedom loving journalists left on Earth, and I continue today to study and to understand the problems connected with human activity on this Planet. My affiliates include: GreenPeace, the Nature Conservancy, the Bio-diversity organization, the Sierra Club, the David Suzuky foundation, the WWF, Amnesty International, World Vision, the IUF organization; as well as the wonderful and independant N.A.S.A. scientists studying our Planet's weather systems. Of course NASA also studies the mysteries of the Eternal Universe with satelite generated images and, over the years, have generously allowed me and thousands of our world scientists to study over their shoulder's via the Internet.
In spite of some past U.S. government repression, NASA continues to provide solid evidence of global warming.
NASA has provided me with pictorial evidence of Rainforest deforestation within: Jakarta, Peru, Africa, Brazil and even in Western Canada!
The motivation for such destruction continues to be (often illegally) for: lumber, for bio-fuels, and for Cattle ranching. Today, the perceived future profits for Palm Oil and for Bio-Fuels are prime motivators for environmental destruction. Small crop farming also contributes but that may be changing as farmers learn to protect the Rain-Forest.
With NASA imaging, there is proof that large city heat traps are helping global warming, and with (infrared images)there is proof that several hundred million gas burning vehicles (including ship and airplanes) presently create a hugh quantity of pollution tracks across both Oceans and Sky.
With oil, gas, Coal and Bio-Fuel heated buildings around the world creating C02 emissions, and with Methane release from all animal species...giant Ozone holes have been created and continue to exist above the North and South Poles. Ozone holes allow the Sun to radiate the Ice Caps and to accelerate the Ice melt, which releases more Methane into the atmosphere, which continues to thin out the Ozone. A vicious circle created by human need and also, unhappily, by human greed!
I have been asked to write to the Prime Minister of Japan to ask him to stop the murderous assault on endangered Whales. Every year, thousands of Whales are killed in the Antarctic with GreenPeace volunteers placing themselves between the Whales and the grenade tipped harpoons, and peope like myself, (I did not forget this is my "Bio," putting my old neck on the line attempting to change the situation by writing thousands if not millions of words!
Are words dangerous?
Over three hundred journalists were killed within the last ten years. You tell me if words are dangerous!
As I write these words, the desperate and starving in Darfur are waiting for rescue. I motivated a few kind hearted California Actors to visit the region and to report back. They did! They then created the Darfur coalition and they continue to fight to save the innocent victims trapped in tents in the desert of the Sudan. Darfuri's were attacked and moved from their homes because somebody believes there is Oil under the Sudan desert.
As I write this, a few sick and desperate people in Iraq are wrapping bombs around themselves in order to die in the name of God, and the list of humanitarian disasters continues. I also contribute information to the Reuter's news service. It is time for a change. Please help make it happen!
