Classic Championship Wrestling - Event Wrap-up 12.12.06
Before action could kick off, "Smooth" Johnny Spade came out to the ring, escorted as always by the lovely Miss Holly Wood. With the events of the past couple of weeks, and the CCW Heavyweight title match in Spade's future next week, it was more than a safe bet Spade had plenty to speak on. Starting off by letting the crowd know that BW3 was going to be unable to make it to the CCW Arena, as Derrick had worked over the already-injured knee in their title match last week. Partner or not, Spade was ready to face Derrick and Cujo tonight! Throwing out a few options for their CCW title match, including no disqualification, Spade was able to lure out the Champ.
Derrick had other, more nefarious plans in mind, telling Spade the only option he had for the match tonight was to team with Miss Holly Wood, or forfeit the match! Nothing like putting your opponent between a rock and a hard place early on. However this situation was going to pan out, the odds weren't looking real great for Spade and Miss Holly Wood.
"Playboy" Scott Hayes & Tommy "T-Dogg" Foreman vs. Elmore Fudd (w/Mrs.Elma Fudd & The Regulator:
In-ring action kicked off this week as the "Playboy," Scott Hayes came wandering back to Classic Championship Wrestling, this time teaming with the scrappy boxer-turned-wrestler, Tommy Foreman, to meet Elmore Fudd, partnering up with the more-aggressive as of late Regulator. Taking to the microphone, The Regulator took the time to point out to the crowd that Blackhawk was NOT going to be in action this week, and they were all looking at the reason why! While the fans let him know how they felt about it, for me, the jury is still out. While it may look to the fans like Regulator is turning his back on them, the simple truth is Regulator is starting to focus more of winning matches than winning over fans, and the results have been in his favor so far.
Hayes and Fudd would start out, with Hayes taking the lead due in no small part to his fast-paced ringwork. While Fudd is a more-than-capable grappler, the vast difference in speed was frustrating him as Hayes kept the heat on, tagging in Foreman, who would score several stiff jabs to rock Fudd, before Fudd righted the ship to swing favor back to his side. Knowing the score, The Regulator was right alongside Elma Fudd in pouring on the beating as Fudd kept referee Suave JimBob and Hayes busy! While Hayes and Foreman would try to battle back, a big-time chokeslam on Foreman by The Regulator would spell victory for his team.
Winners of the Match: Elmore Fudd and The Regulator, by pinfall
Kliff Hanger vs. The Prophet (w/JesseBell) - Match #1 of the Best of 3 CCW Title #1 Contender Series:
The highly anticipated Best of 3 Series was ready to get underway as JesseBell led The Prophet to ringside, only to then pressure him about his whereabouts last week (attributed to illness), going so far as to tell him to "get his act together." While I'm no expert in psychology, one could only imagine how this settled in the back of Prophet's mind as Kliff Hanger hit ringside at the CCW Arena to his standard fanfare. While he may have been a bit swerved last week by the postponement of the first match last week, "The Black Redneck" was now locked onto course, looking down the road to a possible CCW Heavyweight Title match.
As expected, both men brought their A-games, as the action was intense right from the word "Go!" The tension between the two men has seemingly built up to this moment, as not only was a title shot on the line, but big-time bragging rights as well. Not only living up to the hype quickly, this match quickly took on the feel of a win-or-go-home atmosphere. The pace would prove to be too much, as the power cut out during early stages, blanketing the arena in darkness for about three seconds. It was either that, or the sexy little back number JesseBell was wearing at ringside! At any rate, the match was just that hot!
While Prophet would go on a tear offensively, a missed middle-rope fist drop opened the window for a Kliff Hanger comeback that nearly spelled the end for Prophet, as JesseBell could only look on horrified, the thought of starting out with a dangerous 0-1 deficit in the series staring her man straight in the eyes. From out of nowhere, however, just as Kliff Hanger was building momentum, Prophet would hit the brakes, reversing a Russian leg sweep to hit one of his own, and scoring the pin off it! A shocking turnaround for Kliff Hanger, to say the least, but hardly a surprising result, given the high level of rivalry between the two men. Unlike most sequels, the second chapter in this saga will hardly fail to disappoint.
Winner of the Match: The Prophet, to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
Jason X vs. Randy Royal:
With the CCW Tag Team Champions behind him every step of the way, Randy Royal was in one-on-one action and still trying, no doubt, to plot a course of action with The Fat N The Furious as Jason X entered the ring.
Royal started out like a house on fire, as he made it clear he was not getting paid by the hour, taking the fight full steam ahead to the rookie, brawling him down. As Jason X began to mount to comeback, K-Lo and Guido wasted little time in storming the ring, jumping him to bring the disqualification on Royal.
Winner of the Match: Jason X, by disqualification
Matt Maverick & Dez vs. HNIC:
Catching up with me before tonight's show, Matt Maverick let me know he hadn't thought much of my recent remarks regarding his performance, as of late. Seeking to get back on track this week, Maverick teamed up with CCW newcomer Dez to tackle Apollo and JB Thunder, also known as The HNIC. While it's always hard to lay odds on a first-time team in the ring against veterans like The HNIC, Dez and Maverick could provide the tag team ranks with an unbelievably fast offensive scheme.
Staying on top early, Maverick and Dez kept JB Thunder on the mat and scrambling, but before they knew what hit them, Thunder broke through, scoring enough damage to make the tag to Apollo. From there, the HNIC would take control, but only briefly, as Dez would escape to tag in Maverick back in. With both teams managing quick tags frequently, this was a highlight for the tag team enthusiast, as neither team was able to maintain the momentum for very long periods in this match.
Double-teaming Dez, JB Thunder would then go with the sleeper hold, as the HNIC was building steam and ready to take the win, but a double cross body block by both men left them scrambling to regain the high ground. As Apollo and Matt Maverick entered the ring, order would break down as all four men would begin fighting away. Taking their fight to the floor would prove to be the difference-maker for The HNIC, as JB Thunder would pull a foreign object and knock out Dez, taking the pin and stealing the win! Tough luck for Dez and Matt Maverick, but like I pointed out earlier, the odds were against them from the beginning in this match, which is not to say they didn't put up an impressive showing, and the prospect of them teaming again on down the road is an interesting one.
Winners of the Match: The HNIC, by pinfall
"Smooth" Johnny Spade & Miss Holly Wood vs. Cujo & CCW Heavyweight Champion Dynamite Derrick:
With Biff Wellington III recovering from last week, and Miss Holly Wood teaming with Johnny Spade as a result, one could only imagine in what direction Dynamite Derrick was trying to steer this match. With the "Baddest Dog in the Yard," Cujo, in his corner, Derrick looked like he had an extra big fork while sitting down to Thanksgiving dinner.
Spade tried to keep Derrick busy early, even allowing Miss Holly Wood to get a few shots of her own in, but before long Cujo was in the ring, looking for any manner of payback against one of CCW's most popular and electric performers. Tagging back in, Derrick went after the legs of Spade, as has been the "Old School Player's" mode of operation in recent weeks, even clamping on a unique modified-STF to further weaken Spade. Bringing Cujo back in, Derrick's mindset was clear, as he barked the order to "take him out," as Cujo entered the ring.
Cujo would do that and then some, connecting with a huge chokeslam for a near-fall. The only problem is, in Derrick's arrogant quest to take care of his nemesis, he shouted for Cujo to pull Spade up at the count of two, drawing a stern warning from referee Paul Wood. Looking to finish him off by his lonesome, Derrick would ascend to the top rope, ready to deliver the frog splash, but Miss Holly Wood had other ideas. While she was unsuccessful in knocking the champ from the turnbuckle, she would tie up just enough of his time to allow Spade to recover and roll out of harm's way at the last possible second!
By this point in the match, Dynamite Derrick had more than enough of Miss Holly Wood, who had been a most beautiful thorn in his side for months, now. Grabbing her, he instructed Cujo to take a cheap shot, but Miss Holly Wood, being a damn sight smaller than Derrick's usual opponents, wriggled free, leaving Derrick to take the shot from his partner instead! With the monkey wrench fully in play now, Derrick would regroup, only to turn around and meet a superkick from Spade, allowing Miss Holly Wood to roll up Derrick and make the pin! Not only did Derrick's plans backfire, but now his record includes a loss to a 110 pound blond!
Winners of the Match: "Smooth" Johnny Spade & Miss Holly Wood, by pinfall
Following the match, Derrick, seething from what could only be called an upset loss, let Spade know in no uncertain terms that in next week's showdown for the CCW Championship, Flash Flanagan would be back, and in his corner! While the implications were clear, Spade was ready for the latest shenanigans from Dynamite Derrick, countering by informing him that in his corner next week would be former WWE Tag Team Champion John Heidenreich! A bombshell announcement, to be sure, only compounded by the fact that Commissioner Chris Alexander has booked Flanagan and Heidenreich in a singles match for next week!
Dog Collar Tag Team Match for the CCW Tag Team Championship - CCW Tag Team Champions The Brute Squad (K-Lo & Guido Andretti) w/ Randy Royal vs. The Fat N The Furious:
Commissioner Chris Alexander came out to remind the fans of the stipulations for this brutal CCW Tag Team championship match; that not only would he be handcuffed to Randy Royal to prevent his interference, but if The Fat N The Furious were to win the match and regain the belts, they would recieve two minutes alone in the ring with Royal! This would bring the Tag Team Champs to the ring, with Randy Royal in tow, although it was obvious the trio was up to something. No one was envying referee Paul Wood's job of trying to keep tabs on this match!
Fighting over the middle ground, the match started out the fistfight everybody had been waiting for. While it was anybody's ball game early on, the champs gained control, obviously enjoying the free rein to use the chains as weapons on the FNF. The same enjoyment could not be said for Chris Alexander, however, as an anxious but confident Randy Royal dragged him around and around the ring, hoping to make it out of Portland with his skin...again!
As the challengers fought back with every thing at their disposal, the fight would hit the floor, increasing the violence considerably. While Vito and Guido would make it back into the ring, Jack Black preferred to keep torturing K-Lo on the outside, choking him viciously with the slack of the chain.
Fearing the worst, Randy Royal would grab a chair, looking to swing the tide back to The Brute Squad, but given the Commissioner's proximity, that was a challenge in its own, as the two men began trading punches over possession of the chair! As referee Paul Wood tried to maintain order between Royal and Alexander, Jack Black would gain the chair, leveling K-Lo and gaining the three count, making The Fat N The Furious two-time CCW Tag Team Champions! While Royal would try to escape, Alexander and Marcus, who had emerged at ringside, would corral him, rolling him into the ring to face the wrath of the new champions!
While Jack and Vito would relish their time with Royal, delivering not only the Greasy Elbow, but the Last Supper as well, sandwiching Royal between 700 pounds of vengeance, K-Lo and Guido Andretti would save Royal, although it would come with one minute left in Royal's "penalty." Chris Alexander and Marcus would give chase, all the way backstage, but it would be to no avail. While they weren't real happy about Royal slipping away again, the shine of the tag team title belts more than makes up for it, I imagine.
