Lowering My Cholesterol the Healthy Way, Not the "Fun" Way

Michael Byrd
I love those commercials on television where you pour yourself a hearty bowl of a sweet, delicious cereal and then just feel your cholesterol levels plummeting away to a healthy measure. They work. They make me want to start every day with a tasty spoonful of crunchy goodness and a smile.

However, what I have found is that simply eating a whole grain cereal actually does next to nothing for my cholesterol! Sure, I had a great day and felt fabulous about how healthy I was, but nothing really changed other than that I started eating cereal instead of toast. So when I decided to really get serious about fixing my cholesterol, I did not look for the bee, instead I looked for the fish.

Research indicates that including adequate amounts of omega 3 fish oil in your daily diet does far more for keeping your cholesterol under control than simply spooning in that sugary goodness. I admit, swallowing my salmon oil capsules does not have quite the same enjoyable feeling that I get from high-fiving my box of cereal and my 5-year-old – who is, of course, eating the same thing – but it did make my last trip to the doctor a whole lot more pleasant.

If you are struggling with your cholesterol levels, then omega 3 may be the key to getting them down where they belong. You do not have to give up the fun side of breakfast in the morning, just supplement it with an omega 3 salmon oil daily supplement. You will find that it´s even more fun doing the healthy thing along with the tasty one.
