Dear Mr. President
One of the most disturbing things in my life that I have learned is that we the people do not trust anything that you say anymore. On top of the September 11th crisis we were made to believe that that there was just cause to invade Iraq. Saddam was on the brink to disrupt our life blood oil. Saddam became the poster child for terror as we failed to find the real threat Osama Bin Laden.
Why we didn’t put more assets on the ground in Afghanistan is the true question. As the turmoil continues, I only see lives and money being wasted on what appears to be a lie. I just ask, Mr. President, Just why you have allowed this situation to develop? I wonder why the government that is supposed to represent us no longer has a clue about what we Americans or the world understands. I really don’t care what my neighbor does on his own property. That is his place to decide as I am not here to judge or give demands that he lives his life as I believe that he should. Is that not being a bully to do so?
In the name of national security is it not more viable for us to find other ways to deal with those that we perceive as enemies? I am sure that there is. If a simple man from a small town in Ohio can see what is wrong why can’t you sir? Being the dominate nation in the world means a lot. But trying to be the police man of the world is cause for trouble.
Has anyone ever thought that what we hear from this part of the world might be just what we should do? As is the fact with any relationship you never try to change the other party you simply just accept them as they are and find common ground. And we wonder why the divorce rate is so high? I thought that we were more intelligent than that.
I have been hearing that we should pull out but put military strength in Kuwait. Do you realize that those people of the Arab world do not want our influence? And yes having troops stationed within the areas that they perceive as their own space is what causes turmoil. Think for yourself on this. If your friend moves in does it not disrupt your life, Are you not upset that your way of doing things is altered?
I just believe that if you go back a few steps and start from there you might find that there is some common ground to work with. Start with the peace process that President Jimmy Carter started between Israel and her neighbors. If the people of a nation don’t wish for us to be there then don’t be there. Simple but true as keeping it that way is the easy path. Even our enemies will sell that precious oil as they too have needs.
Before you can demand something on others you must first clean your own house. We are not perfect and neither are they but don’t try to put our imperfections upon them. Understand your enemy; Don’t force them to have open retaliation against you. Push comes to shove, all kinds of bad things happen.
Just a citizen who believes that those in the world that don't think as you are just trying to struggle through this world with little or no turmoil.
