NLL: Lumberjax In Mammoth Out
Lumberjax In Mammoth Out
Exclusive
The Portland Lumberjax fired the 1st huge shot to setup a winning team directly after the NLL Dispersal Draft last month with a trade that brings Ryan Powell to team with brother Casey who they drafted 2nd overall. Portland has just made another mammoth move (no pun intended).
Lumberjax management has announced that free agent Richard Morgan will play for Portland, and they are very excited about this move. Portland beat out the Colorado Mammoth for the acquisition who had a visit with Morgan in place for later this month. Last season for the now suspended Anaheim Storm franchise, Morgan had 18 goals, and 10 assists, in 16 games.
During a recent visit to Portland, Morgan had this to say about Coach Derek Keenan, “I enjoyed working with Keenan in Anaheim and with his coaching staff. They are great team builders and they have a lot of respect for the game and their players.”
Keenan, during an interview with me shared his thoughts, “I am pleased to have the opportunity to once again have Richard Morgan on our team. He was one of the most coveted unrestricted free agents on the market and we're very fortunate to get him. The fans of the Portland Lumberjax are not only getting a very good lacrosse player but also a solid person with great character and leadership qualities.” Keenan went on to say, “Rich is an extremely versatile and at 6 foot 8, obviously a big body and difficult to handle at both ends of the lacrosse floor.”
Morgan also commented on working with Angela Batinovich Lumberjax Majority Owner, “I’ve worked with Angela before in Anaheim and her passion for creating a great franchise is really going to help make this team a success.”
Batinovich like Keenan shares very high praise for the stars, off field presance, “He’s a great player and a great person. I’m glad he’s decided to relocate. He’s great with kids and I can’t wait to get him out into the community with these junior players.”
