Does Stress Begin At An Early Age?

Judy Ramsook
Stress comes to each of us in different forms, sometimes it depends on how easily some one is effected by whatever he/she is stressed about. For some people, stress can come about if they are concerned about their jobs or about losing them.

For others, it could be dealing with a difficult person on the job, debt or family problems, the list can seem endless, but does this matter of stress start much earlier in life for some persons in our midst? Say since childhood?

It is known that childen learn from what they witness happening around them. If their parents are having arguments about whatever every single day of the week, then those children are exposed to a sort of world that can seem a little stressful to be in.

For frequent arguments can lead to other life altering changes such as parental separation if one of the parties is unwilling to live that sort of stress induced life. Then if both parties realise that they cannot reach a solution to their problems, divorce enters the picture.

Something that can have longterm effects on an individual, depending on how determined he/she is to move along with his/her life and not to dwell too much on the past. But while all this is occurring, a certain amount of stress can be subconsciously accumulating in that child who is in the high stressed environment.

Stress that can emerge if that person finds him/herself in similar circumstances down the road of his/her own adult life. And at the time it is happening, such an individual might deny it is stress, but on some level, that’s what it is.

Then there are other people who experience such stressful events that they decide to do the opposite with that influence of stress. Some decide to keep it out their lives as far as possible.

Such individuals may not want to come home at the end of each day and fight with their mate over whatever. And when other problems arise, they deal with them in a manner that does not add too much stress on their being.

Because this matter of stress can have harmful effects on a person, whether we are aware of it or not. It could be the reason many individuals suffer from a weak immune system. Something which can bring about other ailments, such as ulcers, colds, you name it.

We all have all kinds of bacteria in our bodies. Bacteria that need a trigger, and sometimes that trigger is stress. So live, laugh and be merry, and do your best not to let too much stress in.
