Damn Illegal Aliens! They killed Kenny!

Allan J. Ashinoff
I had an interesting conversation today with a fellow who adamantly believed that the issue of Illegal immigration is over hyped. He truly believed that illegal aliens were aiding the American economy and that any harm these people caused by being in the US was minimal to the economic benefit these people are providing states like Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and California. He spoke at length and sounded very intelligent until he asked me "Why is it you resent immigrants so much?" The absurdity of the question was rewarded with "Because the illegals killed Kenny."

Kenny was a good kid. He loved riding his skateboard at the park and just about anywhere else he could find a smooth flat surface. He was having trouble in school with math but overall he was doing well. Kenny had plenty of friends that he played with almost daily once his homework was finished. Kenny's mom and dad watched their children like hawks. They always knew who Kenny was with, where he was, and when he'd be home. Kenny was killed by a stray bullet which was fired a block away while he was riding on his new skate board that he bought with saved up birthday money. The bullet hit Kenny in his neck and silently he bled to death in his own front yard with his mom in the house perhaps 30 feet away. Kenny was thirteen.

The police report said it was rival gangs in a dispute over "territory". The police couldn't find the perpetrator but leads pointed to a Mexican national who came into the country illegally via California and ended up in a local gang in Phoenix. Authorities believe after a week of searching that the culprit fled back to Mexico .

Kenny was elated after receiving a call at work from his wife. It was "time" and Kenny was ready. He'd been preparing for weeks for this moment. Driving quickly home Kenny hoped everything would be OK and that they had enough time to get to the hospital in a neighboring town. The flood of illegals pounding his local hospital's emergency room had forced it to direct its budget to fund more doctors and beds for emergency care. Since illegal aliens generally do not have health care and often do not pay their medical bills the hospitals emergency room became less and less for emergencies and a choice was made on to how best to serve its community.

As a result the hospital administrators made a budgetary decision to discontinue the labor and delivery department. Kenny's wife should be fine for the forty-five minute drive to the delivery room. Driving quickly from his home to the hospital Kenny's Subaru Legacy was struck on the passenger side by a van moving at 65 miles per hour. Kenny's wife was killed instantly by the impact of the 1987 Ford Econoline van against their Subaru. The driver of the van, witnesses say, ran away from the crash with bruises. Two bodies were found in the van while witnesses report nearly a dozen people scurrying in every direction from the rear of the van immediately after the crash.

The police report said the driver of the van was likely a "coyote", a smuggler of humans. It was estimated that there were ten to twelve illegal aliens in the rear of the van packed in like sardines. A friend of Kenny's who is a policeman told him that there would likely be a cursory investigation. But the likely hood of a prolonged investigation was very slim since the driver was likely in Mexico a day after the crash. As for the illegal aliens who fled the scene, the police never search for them because they considered chasing illegal aliens in these cases a waste of sparse resources and man power. Kenny's not elated about very much anymore but is somewhat happy now that he can finally walk again.

Kenny was so proud the day he became a border patrol agent. That was until, while sitting in his suburban north of Agua Pietra, his vehicle came under small arms fire and Kenny was shot dead before the agent who was driving could doughnut the truck on the dirt road. The Mexican national earned ten thousand dollars paid by border gangs for the life of any US border patrol agent. Kenny left behind a wife and two kids.

The events above are for the most part fictitious but the scenario's are very real. Situations like these play out daily on the streets of Arizona and are broadcast on the television news and in the local newspapers. There are those who dare to suggest that there is hardly any impact from the illegal bombardment from Mexico or that the illegals are necessary to the American economy. Someone should mention that to the thousands of "Kenny's" every year who loses his life or a loved ones life to these "gems". Politicians south and north of the US-Mexico border at all levels of government are responsible for the lives and the livelihoods lost to this epidemic.

In addition to the violence, illegal aliens are loadstones on the US economy. Illegal aliens and those who employ them are artificially keeping prices low. Artificially keeping costs out of market control is a dangerous proposition. In a Capitalist society the market sets the price or wage. Companies who are hiring illegal aliens are putting other companies that do not hire illegals out of business. America's super charged economic engine is the only reason all of America isn't feeling the impact of illegals more noticeably. But in the southwest the "condition" is certainly felt in the drain on welfare, crime, and healthcare. A drain which is shutting down hospitals and preventing our citizens from accessing benefits they are entitled to as Americans. A drain which is causing people like Kenny to move north before his life gets taken from him in some way, shape, or form.

America must remember these apathetic politicians when it comes time to vote. A substantial change of the players on the political landscape is necessary to correct the massive deviation away from elected civil responsibility. The ambivalence exhibited by political elitists must have its price. The price must be a complete ousting of un-American and global interests from American government. American government simply must reflect the will of its people again.
