Jesse Jackson: Boycott Seinfeld DVD Set To Punish Michael Richards

Robert Paul Reyes
The Reverend Jesse Jackson called for a boycott of the four-disc seventh season of Seinfeld, as a way of punishing Michael Richards for his racist rant.

Richards, 57, won three Emmys for playing the goofy Cosmo Kramer on Seinfeld, which ran from 1990-98 on NBC.

The Seinfeld set was Amazon.com's 11th-biggest-selling DVD on Monday and was expected to sell tons of units this holiday season.

I guess Jackson believes in collective punishment -- a boycott of the latest Seinfeld DVD would hurt not only Richards, but his costars and hundreds of others involved in the production and marketing of the DVD.

I will purchase the Seinfeld DVD set as a way of protesting Jackson's meddling in any case that will garner him media attention.

Seinfeld's world of quirky characters takes me away from the real world of racism, violence and bad energy for a few minutes. I won't let Richards' racist meltdown ruin my enjoyment of Seinfeld.

Jackson should call for a boycott of black rappers and comics who saturate their CD's and live performances with the N-word. Rappers like 50 cent are role models, whether they want to be or not, and their obsessive use of the word "nigga" has taught kids that it's OK to use that vile word. My 16-year-old niece tells me that even white kids refer to each other as "nigga".

Who died and made Jesse Jackson the spokesperson for African Americans? I think it's racist for the predominantly white media to seek out Jackson or Sharpton every time there's a racially polarized issue. The media acts as if average blacks can't think for themselves, and they have to wait until they take direction from Jackson or Sharpton.

Michael Richards obviously has anger management and racist issues to deal with. He would be well advised to stay away from the likes of Jackson and Sharpton. Those two clowns are just using him to further their own agendas: Not the advancement of the black race, but of their own careers.
