Interview with Actress Shenita Moore

Cassandra Bell
I recently interviewed actress Shenita Moore.

Bell: You play the role of a nurse on "Grey's Anatomy" the popular ABC Emmy nominated television series. Would you like to share your experiences on or off the set?

Moore: I thoroughly enjoyed myself on the set of "Grey’s Anatomy." It had been a while since I’d been on the set of a major television show, so it was a very exciting experience for me. I’m happy that the show has gotten such a positive response. I filmed two episodes of "Grey’s Anatomy," one of which has already aired, the other will air this fall, during their second season. I’m really hoping that I get the opportunity to revisit their set again soon.

Bell: You also played the role of nurse on the Lifetime television series "Strong Medicine." Any comments?

Moore: (laughter) Yes, I guess I have that “care giver” look. The "Strong Medicine" set was a lot of fun as well. My experience on that set was really different, but just as rewarding. Since "Strong Medicine" has been around for a while, their set is established, and has a smooth flow about it. As a result, the cast is really laid back and low key. I loved that, because wardrobe, hair, and make-up was a breeze, so I had plenty of time to calm myself and prepare for my scene with Rick Schroder.

Rick is such a great actor. I realized once we started rehearsing the scene that I had nothing to worry about at all. He gave me everything I needed to give a good performance, so my nervousness disappeared.

Rumor has it, I’m being considered to be brought back to do another episode of "Strong Medicine." We’ll just have to wait and see what happens!

Bell: With what actors did you become acquainted off the set of the shows?

Moore: Well, interestingly enough, I already knew T.R. Knight before I worked on "Grey’s Anatomy." He and I did a commercial together in the late 90’s, so it was cool to get the opportunity to see him again, and congratulate him for scoring such a great show. He really made me feel welcome on the "Grey’s Anatomy" set, and made a point of introducing me to everyone, including Patrick Dempsey. It was wonderful!

Bell: Any behind the scenes or memorable moments you would like to share?

Moore: I just want to throw out there that T.R. is hilarious! Since he’s just now on the verge of becoming a household name, many people probably don’t know that about him yet, but between takes the banter he and Patrick exchanged was pure comedy. He’s so funny.

As for "Strong Medicine," I remember when I was sitting in my dressing room, I could hear Tamera Mowery singing in the hall. I didn’t realize what a beautiful voice she has. I think that if she ever stopped acting, she’d make a great singer!

Bell: Anything else you would like to share with us?

Moore: Well, on the horizon for me is the second episode of "Grey’s Anatomy" I spoke about earlier, so be on the look out for that. I think that will air sometime in September. I also had a small part in a short film that will be screening at the Directors Guild of America at the end of September.

Later this year, I will be profiled in a book about actors in different stages of their careers (from beginners to celebrities), so be on the look out for that too. In addition to myself, the book will also include profiles on celebrities such as Robert De Niro, Niecy Nash, and Matt Damon; among others.

I’m continually auditioning, so who knows where you’ll see me next. The best way to stay on top of what’s going on with me is to visit my website: www.shenitamoore.com. I update it myself, so as soon as I know something, you’ll know something! I just recently added a blog, so that allows my readers an inside opportunity to share this crazy journey with me.

Lastly, I just want to take this opportunity to thank my family and friends for all of their support over the years!

I would like to thank Shenita Moore for allowing me to interview her.
