The Vultures Descend On Michael Richards' Carcass

Before you could say the N-word seven times, the vultures descended on the carcass of Michael Richard's ruined career.
The first vulture to take a bite out of Richards was his old buddy Jerry Seinfeld who was on David Letterman's show to hawk the 7th season of Seinfeld on DVD. Eager to protect his sit-com franchise, Jerry persuaded his friend to apologize, via satellite, on Letterman's show. That made as much sense as scheduling Chris Rock to entertain a KKK gathering. Letterman's demographics are 99.99% lily white (slight exaggeration). Richards should have made his apology in person to the black hecklers and then made a general apology to an African American audience.
The next vulture to greedily munch on Kramer's remains was Gloria Allred who, before you could say "stick a fork in his a**, persuaded the black hecklers to let her represent them.
From the Associated Press:
"Allred, speaking by phone from Colorado, said Richards should meet McBride and Doss in front of a retired judge to "acknowledge his behavior and to apologize to them" and allow the judge to decide on monetary compensation.
"It's not enough to say 'I'm sorry,'" she said.
She did not mention a specific figure, but pitched the idea as a way for the comic to avoid a lawsuit."
There is no doubt that Richards humiliated the two young men, but lets not forget that they set the whole sorry episode in motion by heckling the comic. One of the two young men, demonstrated that he is just as racist as Richards, by calling him a "cracker mother fuc***.
The black hecklers deserve a heart-felt apology, but not one damn red cent.
The next vultures to attack Richards were Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson. The public relations expert that Richards hired, convinced him to apologize to these two spotlight loving buffons. Asking Sharpton and Jackson to try to defuse an explosive situation is like bringing in an arsonist to help quell a fire. Sharpton and Jackson are already making the rounds of all the talk shows and news programs to promote themselves and to make a show of trying to do the right thing.
I have no sympathy for Michael Richards, he is a flat-out racist who deserves to have his career in flames. But Seinfeld, Gloria Allred, Sharpton and Jackson have not behaved honorably in this matter.
