PRESS RELEASE: Somali groups ask imams to condemn Uganda terror attacks.
(Minneapolis, MN, 07/15/10 – The coordination committee of Center for Somali Solutions of Minnesota, which consists of leading Somali advocacy group, has requested Somali imams across the country to condemn the Uganda terror attacks in their Friday sermons, condemning this week's terror attacks in Kambala, Uganda.
The Center demanded a high-level investigations and actions against those real culprits may be brought to justice soon. The center also called upon Somali community in Uganda to come forward to help the victims of the terror attacks.
In a statement, the committee expressed its concern that the terror attacks have led Somalia to a situation of fear and uncertainty. The motive of the terrorists is to destabilize East Africa, hurt its economy and damages the peace keeping operations in Somalia, it said, and demanded that the governments at the Centre and in the states pay attention to further support African Union Mission in Somalia.
The Center also asked the authorities, civil society groups and the media to work together to expose the real perpetrators of these unprecedented attacks. Leaving the real culprits behind the curtains of suspicion will only help terrorists to fortify their activities and will increase the feeling of insecurity among the people, the press release states.
