Michael Richards Should Not Be Forgiven Until He Admits He's A Racist

Michael Richards, who gained fame as Kramer the wacky neighbor on "Seinfeld", went of on a profane and racist tirade when he was interrupted by two black hecklers at the Laugh Factory in Hollywood.

Richards acted as if he was shocked that someone had the temerity to heckle him. If during your wedding ceremony a member of the audience shouts out, "Preacher don't marry them, that knucklehead doesn't deserve that nice lady," you have every right to react with outrage, surprise and perhaps an expletive or two directed at the heckler.

But hecklers are par for the course in a comedy venue; a seasoned comic has a hundred and one ready responses to any heckler, none of which include racist epithets.

The 57-year-old actor and wannabe comic, offered his apology during an appearance on CBS' "The Late Show With David Letterman".

"I was at a comedy club trying to do my act and I got heckled and I took it badly and went into a rage. For me to be in a comedy club and flip out and say this crap, I'm deeply sorry. I'm not a racist. That's what's so insane about this."

Everyone has a bit of racist in him, and I'm not one to cast stones, but Richards' apology is not enough. It's not like Richards let the word "nigger" slip out of his mouth; his racist tirade went on for several minutes and he repeatedly uttered the vile racial slur. At one point he shouted: "Fifty years ago we'd have you upside down with a f***ing fork up your a**. You can talk, you can talk, you're brave now mother***ker. Throw his a** out. He's a nigger! He's a nigger! He's a nigger! A nigger, look, there's a nigger!"

Richards must not only apologize but he must admit that he is a racist. Until he faces reality and confesses that he is a racist he should not be forgiven.

Look there's a racist. He's a racist. A racist. A racist, look, there's a racist.
