Apple Computer Or The Less Expensive Alternative, Which Would You Choose?

Judy Ramsook
Six years ago when I purchased my first laptop, it was because I simply wanted to see what all the fuss about the internet was about, and to do some writing every now and again. But after setting up the first and not last computer I would grow to love and cherish, it became something more.

I soon and quickly found myself using it to do many things. This one little machine took the place of so many different ones. For before the computer came along and changed the way I would view the world, if I wanted to listen to a cd I turned on the stereo.

Now all I have to do is place the cd in the computer cd tray and click play on the Media Player. Similarly when I was in college, one of my friends used a Word Processor machine to write his papers. With the convenience of the computer, all one has to do is install an MS Word program in it, and there you are, all in that one unique machine.

Same thing if I wanted to view a video on cd or a website. I also found myself sending and receiving email, chatting with a distant relative or friend by way of an instant message program, playing an occasional game or two, and spending hours on the internet, for there is so much knowledge out there.

Probably more knowledge the average person has time and energy to acquire in his/her entire lifetime. Then came a little downside; the notorious computer virus.

Something I would rather not deal with if I had to do it all over again, but at the time I had to learn to cope with this problem by purchasing and keeping up to date an anti virus software program. Now a few years later, it seems I need a computer upgrade.

My faithful laptop still works, don’t get me wrong, and every now and again an unsuspecting virus still manages to creep in, that is until the antivirus program discovers it and deals with it the way the program was designed to handle the problem.

I am in a bit of a quandary though. Should I get another laptop with all those viruses out there and new ones being discovered everyday, or should I do away with that altogether and go for the one brand whose operating system is not built to incorporate computer viruses? Such as the Apple Laptop.

There’s no virus there to worry about. Just turn on your computer and you are ready to do whatever, be it write, listen to music watch a video or breeze through the internet.

Maybe I will choose the latter. It’s far better than waking up one day to discover that one more time my computer had been invaded with yet, yes, another computer virus. I don’t want any more computer viruses, good antivirus software program or not. I just want my computer to work, virus free and popup free.
