Doogie Howser (Neil Patrick Harris) Is Gay: Yawn

Doogie Howser, M.D.. is the beloved TV series that aired 1989-1993, about a teenaged genius who becomes a doctor.
What Mom wouldn’t be thrilled if her daughter dated a guy as wholesome and all-American as Doogie?
Neil Patrick Harris, who portrayed the title character in Doogie Howser, M.D. was recently outed on a gossip Web site.
Harris did not issue a press release denying that he is a homosexual, instead he proudly declared:”I am happy to dispel any rumors or misconceptions and am quite proud to say that I am a very content gay man living my life to the fullest.”
Doogie Howser gay? The sun did not fall from the sky, hell did not freeze over and CNN did not broadcast live coverage of the sudden appearance of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
The press applauded Harris for his courage and honesty, I doubt if his career will suffer as a result of his coming out.
Only televangelists might have greeted Doogie’s proud proclamation with fear and disgust, and more than a few of them probably lust over photos of Neil Patrick Harris.
If Doogie can come out of the closet and not suffer any dire ramifications, that should embolden other gay celebs to come out of the closet.
The reaction to Doogie’s coming out announcement shows that slowly but surely Americans are starting to accept homosexuality as normal and healthy.
