Fr. Nathan Lerio, head of the Archdiocese of Cagayan de Oroīs Ad-Extra Commission said the Archdiocesan Good Governance Apostolate (AGGAp) and the CDO Good Governance Inc. (CDO-GGI) have tied up with Konsumanteng Kagay-anon, Inc. to look into the sudden surge in electricity rates in Mindanao to see what citizenīs groups can do about it.
"We have decided to undertake this forum with citizenīs groups following the unprecedented rise of electricity rates across Mindanao last month," Lerio said. "This forum aims to get the facts straight from objective third parties who can tell us the truth about what is
going on in the power industry in Mindanao and what we can do about it."
The forum aims to provide legislators from Congress and local legislative bodies with the correct information regarding the prevailing situation which led to the Mindanao power crisis which many industry sources allege is man-made and how it led to the surge in power rates despite long hours of blackouts all over the island.
Among the national legislators who have confirmed their attendance for the forum are Rep. Rufus Rodriguez, 2nd District, Cagayan de Oro and party list organizations ABAMIN, COOP-NATCCO, TUCP and ATING-KOOP.
"Should our legislators find sufficient cause to do so, we will ask them to conduct an investigation in aid of legislation on how the Mindanao crisis came to be and how electricity rates in Mindanao has shot up despite the long hours of blackouts.
