UN Meeting on the Persecution of Aramaeans and Other Ethno-Religious Groups in Iraq

A few days ago, a UN meeting was held in North Iraq in order to bring closer the diverse nations, ethnic and ethno-religious groups that cohabitate in the area.

A UN Meeting in the North of Iraq on Security Situation

On 27th of May 2010 a crucial meeting, under guidance of UN, was held in the north of Iraq where all ethnic and religious minorities, national and regional governments of Iraq participated (see below UN press release). The Arameans of Mesopotamia also took part in this important meeting. Aram-Naharaim welcomes this initiative and we hope that it shall result in the improvement of the situation of all the groups in Iraq, including the Aramean Indigenous nation.

The meeting took place because of security situation and human rights violations and was held in Telkeef.

The Arameans of Aram-Naharaim Organization is extremely worried about the situation of the Arameans of Iraq. The Aramean nation of Iraq, also made known as "Assyrians" in some media, find themselves in very fragile situation. The Arameans are marginalized and threatened with ethnic cleansing. Due to undiminished persecutions, killings, plundering and attacks, many Arameans have already left Iraq.

The Aram-Naharaim Organization raised its voice in several letters and reports to the international organizations and governments to ask for their attention to the fragile situation of the Aramean nation of Iraq. We mention few examples:

Because of their fragile position combined with lack of adequately functioning security apparatus, the Arameans are an easy target for powers who intend to cleanse Iraq of its original inhabitants who have been present in this part of the world since thousands of years.

Mr. Hani Salim Wadi is the such and such Aramean who has been killed in Iraq since the invasion in 2003.

UN Brings Religious, Ethnic Communities to the Discussion Table in Northern Iraq

Security concerns and human rights topped a United Nations-backed discussion among the religious and ethnic communities of the northern Iraqi governorate of Ninewa.

Participants at the meeting which took place on 27 May included representatives of the Christian, Shabak, Turkoman and Yazidi communities, as well of the Ninewa administration, the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Iraqi Government.

The UN Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI) chaired the talks -- the first-ever meeting of the Committee on Ethnic and Religious Communities in Ninewa -- in the city of Tilkaef.

Also among the topics discussed during the gathering where the representation of Ninewa's various communities in Iraq's security forces.

The UNAMI meeting marked an important first step for further dialogue and action, said Jerzy Skuratowicz, the Secretary-General's Deputy Special Representative. "While each of the components has its unique and distinct ethnic, cultural and religious heritage that must be preserved, it is also apparent that they all share many common concerns, which need to be addressed."

As an antiterrorist and anti-colonial organization we are utmost concerned about the activities of some individuals, with doubtful reputation, driven by a frightful form of fanaticism.

This fanaticism was implemented on academic, cultural and social level by the colonial activities of France and Great Britain in the Middle-East through which a cultural genocide was perpetrated on the Aramean indigenous nation. This was done by the invention of the term "Chaldeans" by France (+ Vatican) in 1553 and the term "Assyrians" by Great Britain (+ Protestants) as from 1853.

The ecclesiastical and political powers closely worked together and setup camps in Turkey, Iraq, and Iran where the Aramean children were "educated" through which they completely were uprooted from their Aramean origin. They thereby planted a horrible form of fanaticism in their hearts which caused them to display an immense aversion to their Aramean origin (It is remarkable to see how some "scholars" tries to approve this unholy practices). And it is this kind of fanaticism which has led to unprecedented hostility of surrounding peoples in the Middle-East caused our people into Diaspora.

It is comparable to the treatment of some Indian tribes in the United States and Aboriginals in Australia to exterminate them by "educating" their children in camps.

The leadership of PKK was utterly impressed by the fanaticism of these apostate Arameans who call themselves "Assyrians". For these reasons they made in 1993 a monstrous covenant with the PKK in Syria. In exchange for recruitment of youngster in the West, the PKK promised them to advertise the name "Assyrians" and made the Kurdish Media at their disposal, including 12 hour free of charge broadcasting time on the PKK channel MED-TV.

This monstrous covenant, including conditions, is in detail explained in the PKK newspaper "Berxwedan" of 15-6-1993. We have translated this newspaper into English. The detailed covenant can be summarized in three points:

1. Establishment of a sister-organization of PKK and recruitment of youth in the West.

2. Falsification of Aramean identity, a cultural extermination of the Aramean nation.

3. If the PKK would prevail, the "Assyrians" would share in this victory.

ADO and PKK agreed to establish a sister- organization of PKK by ADO and it would be supported by PKK, morally as well a financially. This sister-party of PKK became known after its establishment as GHB (In Aramaic: "Gabo D'Hirutho D'' Bethnahrin"= Mesopotamia Freedom Party). Later it changed its name in MUB (Mautobnutho Umtonoyo Bethanrin= Mesopotamia National Organization).

Regarding the establishment of the GHB, the PKK-leader says:

Page 16, Column 3:

For years I struggled alone, but at this moment the PKK achieved such a level that it is undefeatable.

We want you also to contribute to this/ to become a part of it.

This would give evidence of your reliability.

We are ready for that and are eager to see that (from your side).

We also want to help when you return back to your villages.

We are ready to do everything possible we can.

Yes, I don´t know exactly, what is your real requirement, what is the status/ structure of the organization (to be established), this issues I wish to here from you.

Page 18, Column 6, he says:

It is clear that the Syriac contribution (to the PKK), to the new building up ( of the region) in the liberation of the people may play a pronounced role.

Page 19, Column 1, he says:

We are building up a front.

I believe that the Assyrian movement also should get a place within this front.

The Syrians living in Syria originate for a important from Turkey.

As result of this, those (Syriacs) liven in Turkish Kurdistan can participate in the front.

That is why they directly can participate (in the front).

They jointly may organize demonstrations, mass meetings

If they are available, we can also send some youngsters to the mountains (for the struggle).

There are anyway some youngsters from the villages around the Cudi- mountain participating (in the struggle).

Page 20, Column 2, he says:

I believe that we have done all the necessary for a important from our side.

Do you want also to try this?

The caravan of revolution is moving forward, are you prepared to participate to this caravan?

I believe you should for sure take a place in this (revolution).

Page 20, Column 4, he says:

As I told (before), we may also call you for the front.

This also shall make your people more trustworthy, make the Assyrian identity legitimate, preparing the people.

On the availability of the Kurdish media for the "Assyrian" propaganda he says:

You should write, our magazine, newspapers are open (for you). It will be written anyway in agreement with your wishes (Page 19, Column 4). In addition, the PKK offered them 12 hour broadcasting time free of charge with the PKK channel MED-TV for their propaganda.

After their return from Syria, the GHB was established and they immediately started together with PKK to organize meetings and demonstrations, precisely as proposed by the PKK leader Ocalan when he said, "They jointly may organize demonstrations, mass meetings" (Page 19, Column 1)

The establishment of GHB took place thanks to the federations and associations of the apostate Arameans who call themselves "Assyrians" – the horrible colonial product from the 19th century which caused division, hatred and destruction among our nation, - in Germany, Sweden, Netherlands and other countries.

On the establishment of the GHB, the sister party of PKK, on Page 17 Column 4, ADO says:

We as, Assyrian Democratic Organization, bother also about those who fled to foreign countries.

In Europe and other countries we have associations, federations with the aim to realize the unity within our people and carry out similar activities

Thus: The organizations of apostate Arameans who call themselves "Assyrians" and nourish a deep contempt towards the Aramean nation, were mentally prepared and mass meetings were organized to recruit youth for the combat. But of course, these activities were carried out under the cover of "cultural manifestation", "human rights", etc.. etc.. The main goal was however to recruit people for the struggle of PKK in agreement with the proposal of the PKK-leader, quoted previously. The terrorist "Assyrians" were so successful, thanks to the support of PKK, that they already had recruited 200 people (Newspaper Hurriyet) in the year 2001 who were active in the camps of PKK. In Holland, for example, they organized hunger strikes in front of police office in the city of Enschede and other activities to involve the youth with the PKK.

When the Turks became aware of this unholy covenant, they of course became furious. And because of this reasons, the Turkish Supreme court added our people in Turkey to the list of terrorist groups.

For these reasons, we are utmost anxious about these fanatical individuals, who yesterday have recruited youngsters for the PKK/GHB/ADO and caused our people to be added to the list of the Turkish Supreme court; while today they have so easy access to the media and politicians, including European Parliament. Via these contacts they try to literal fulfill the words of the PKK-leader to commit cultural genocide onto the Aramean nation.

By way of comparison: A Islamist with pair of gloves, a bottle of chlorine and a map of the airport ´Schiphol´ in his possession causes a immense hullabaloo in the Dutch Media. While others who have been involved with recruitment and consequently destroyed the life of many, have everywhere access to. In addition, they become members of municipal and provincial councils and nobody is putting slightest obstacles in their way. To make the matters worse, these wicked people are even encouraged to continue on their evil paths. Here is something definitely wrong!

Here below we present to you various articles, in particular from the "Christian" media which give us the feeling as if the camps of "brainwashing´ have been put in a modern jacket with the result that the reader willingly is withhold reliable information where they simply are entitled to.

And this certainly does not take place unwittingly.

The reason that the "Christian" media in the Netherlands as well as in the US and elsewhere do their best to exterminate the Aramean heritage has most probably to do with the fact that Satan has put some of his extraordinary and powerful children on the highest levels within these organizations (factually we are dealing here with the "trash" of the faith as told in 2 Thessalonians 2).

In a deeper sense they prepare (majority of them is most probably unaware of this), the coming of the antichrist, the real "Assyrian" who shall present himself in the European Parliament amongst others as an "Assyrian".

The Arameans of Aram-Naharaim Foundation is a non-governmental, non-profit and non-political organization with the main goals: Human Rights and culture and comprises amongst others:

To defend worldwide the fundamental human rights of the Aramean people and to support social and culture projects in the broadest sense of the word.

To make the indigenous Aramean people known to the Dutch society and world community.

To defend the rights of the Aramean people in Holland and worldwide in the broadest sense of the word (amongst others on the field of Human rights, cultural rights, social rights and indigenous rights).

The just mentioned and other here not specifically mentioned goals should be realized within the boundaries of the General Assemble Resolution 47/135 of 18 December 1992 concerning all sort of minorities.

The mentioned resolution 47/135 is applicable on the indigenous rights of the Aramean people as well. Also is applicable on the indigenous rights of the Aramean people the "Draft Declaration" 1994/45 of the United Nations Working Group on the Indigenous Populations.

The Aramean people of Aram-Naharaim gave the other peoples of the Middle-east the example of how to live to gather with your neighbor based on the foundation of love, respect, brotherhood and humanity. Unfortunately, the Aramean policy of love, respect and brotherhood is not hailed with cheers by everybody in the middle-east. On the contrary; some people resort to the path of "sword" which leads to bloodshed, hatred, instability and degradation of the human dignity. In spite of terror, persecutions and slaughtering which our people have suffered for hundreds of years in the middle-east; partly because of their peaceful and passive policy; we will continue to follow on the path of peace, respect and brotherhood to attain the most fundamental human rights for our people.

In the framework of the United Nations resolution 47/135; we strive amongst others:

Recognition of the Aramean people as the indigenous people of Aram-Naharaim in the middle-east; to start in Turkey.

Recognition of the social and cultural rights of the Aramean people in the lands of the forefathers.

Recognition of the Aramean genocide in the year 1914-1918 whereby approximately 600.000 Arameans of different denominations were killed.
