Special Prosecutor Asked to Investigate Bill O'Reilly

An abortion doctor says he is seeking a full investigation of Fox News Channel's "O'Reilly Factor" host Bill O'Reilly following statements in which the commentator claimed to have private abortion information on the Kansas physician.
Dr. George Tiller's lawyer told the AP his client will ask the state's Supreme Court to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate both O'Reilly and Kansas Attorney General Phil Kline, the alleged source for O'Reilly's information.
Tiller is also demanding that the state take possession of 90 patient records acquired by Kline.
The Attorney General Kline received the records, which had been edited to remove any information that would identify patients, after a two year court battle that sparked debate about privacy issues. Kline said he wanted to review the records for evidence of possible crimes, including rape and illegal abortions, the AP reported.
O'Reilly's comments came Friday during the "O'Reilly Factor" broadcast. The number one rated television commentator said his show had been told by a "source inside" that Tiller performs late-terms abortions on depressed patients and that two Kansas abortion clinics, including one operated by Tillman, have broken state laws by failing to report possible rapes of victims ages 10 to 15.
Kline, a vocal abortion opponent, was a guest on "The O'Reilly Factor," at the time of the remarks.
The host told Kline that he did not "know whether you have that information or not - I don't know - but that's what it says."
Sherriene Jones, a spokeswoman for Kline, said Saturday that the attorney general doesn't know how O'Reilly got the information and knew nothing about the host's "inside source."
"I assumed he was talking about somebody on the inside of the abortion clinics," Jones said.
Political analyst Mike Baker commends O'Reilly for taking on the abortionists.
"O'Reilly is the only commentator who dares to take on the abortion industry in this country. I commend him. But now watch the liberals use the courts and the news media to attack him for going after the true symbol of the Democrat Party -- abortion," he said.
It is unclear if O'Reilly's source broke any laws by giving the host patient information. A statement from O'Reilly or Fox News is expected.
