Turning Point

Thor H. Asgardson
"The artificial preparation of hemp, from Silesia, is really a curiosity."

George Washington

Letter to Dr. James Anderson, May 26, 1794. in Writings of George Washington. Washington DC. vol. 33. p. 384.

"…Washington & Jefferson were said to exchange smoking blends as personal gifts. Washington reportedly preferred a pipe full of ´the leaves of hemp´ to alcohol, & wrote in his diaries that he enjoyed the fragrance of hemp flowers. Madison once remarked that hemp gave him insight to create a new & democratic nation. Monroe, creator of the Monroe Doctrine, began smoking it as Ambassador to France & continued to the age of 73."

Who am I? Who are we? Which America are we; Woodstock or Moonwalk?

Glenn Beck

06/01/2010

Fox News anchor Glenn Beck today said the summer of 1969 was the "turning point" in America´s history and suggests that he will work this summer to correct where America allegedly "went wrong" in 1969.

This writer would suggest that there were two turning points in American history; the first was the creation of the Federal Reserve in 1913 and the second was the disastrous immigration bill of 1965, sponsored by Senator Edward M. Kennedy.

Beck damns an entire generation which preferred long hair as the fashion and suggests that the crowd he hung out with, which wore haircuts over the ears and white, button-down shirts, was superior to and more patriotic than the hippies.

In short, Beck rightly immortalizes the Poindexter buzz-cuts who put a man on the moon and "showed the world what one country could accomplish," but he trashes an entire generation of American youth. That generation was damned if it did and damned if it didn´t.

That generation is tired of taking the rap for the sins of the convict, Charles Manson.

Let´s answer Beck´s question of the ages, shall we?

This former "hippie" firmly believes the national identity is both Woodstock and Moonwalk and that both are compatible and one-in-the-same.

Glenn Beck is certainly a great American patriot, but he has gravely miscalculated the American psyche by labeling an entire generation of young Americans as somehow unworthy of the title "American." That generation also watches his show with rapt attention.

Beck castigates the young Americans of the 1960´s with a description of "…sex in the mud, no values, no morals or rules." He sneers, "...under the banner of love."

Essentially the Beck weltanschauung sees America as two opposing camps; the builders, movers and shakers in contrast to the worthless hippie generation, which accomplished and built nothing. He calls this generation "anti-establishment mud people."

And what is the Establishment?

"The Council on Foreign Relations is "The Establishment". Not only does it have influence and power in key decision-making positions at the highest levels of government to apply pressure from above, but it also announces and uses individuals and groups to bring pressure from below, to justify the high level decisions for converting the U.S. from a sovereign Constitutional Republic into a servile member state of a one-world dictatorship."

Former Congressman John Rarick, 1971

"Which are you?," Beck asks.

This writer maintains that it is NOT an either/or proposition and that when Beck poses it as such, he plays directly into the hands of those vested interests he castigates, who would divide and conquer us.

While the "squares" put a man on the moon in outer space, the "hipsters" were a different sort of American pioneer-- of inner space. That journey began when America´s intelligence agencies introduced LSD-25 to American youth.

"Thanks for the mind-bending drug, guv'nor"

The "long strange trip" of an entire generation of young Americans came to full "flower power" when that generation arrived at the threshold of senior citizenship.

The youthful revolt of the "Love Generation" has now come to full fruition as the Second American Revolution and that formerly alienated youth can now see quite clearly that its misdirected youthful revolt, was merely setting the stage for the greater realization which was to come in later years. That expanded awareness of the generation which "blew its mind" on "Acid," has now come full circle with the understanding that our country is in dire peril of extinction.

Beck chastises the "Second Greatest Generation."

The "Woodstock Generation" looked around and discovered that Ronald W. Reagan and John Wayne were dead and that it was time to pick up the fallen banner of our forefathers.

This writer firmly believes--and knows--that the Woodstock Generation is for the most part, in the finest tradition of American patriotism. The real "turning point" occurred when that generation--which was accused of destroying America--actually stepped up to the plate to preserve Her.

That band of long-haired rebels of the Sixties long ago recognized its spiritual kinship with the Founding Fathers, who also were long-haired rebels. The hippies may have smoked a little weed, but so too did America´s founders, who were very much into the hashish vogue, coming from France.

This writer was formally introduced to Buzz Aldrin, at his niece´s wedding and was honored to shake the hand of this second American astronaut to walk on the moon. He can tell you unequivocally that both "camps" stand united for the preservation and continued existence of our noble republic.

It serves the national awareness to realize the major turning point in this nation's history, was NOT initiated by people who were too young to understand the money power, but that that seminal event transpired with the creation of the so-called "Federal Reserve."

"We are undone, my dear sir, if legislation is still permitted which makes our money, much or little, real or imaginary, as the moneyed interests shall choose to make it."

Thomas Jefferson

"I am firmly of the opinion that there never was a paper pound, a paper dollar, or a paper promise of any kind, that ever yet obtained a general currency (as money) but by force or fraud, generally by both."

John Adams

"If ever again our nation stumbles upon unfunded paper, it shall surely be like death to our body politic. This country will crash."

George Washington

Let´s rock and roll-over the "New World Order" of the international bankers. This country has been occupied by a hostile corporate takeover since 1913. It is time for real hope and real change.

Glenn Beck has committed a major gaffe--not to mention offending his viewers-- by unwittingly joining the "blame America first" crowd.

It is time to end the Civil War.
