Man Turns Tiny Bedroom into 24 Rooms

Mike Catherall
If your apartment is bumming you out, think of what it must be like to live in Hong Kong, one of the most densely populated places in the world. It is not uncommon for families of four to share a 500 square foot apartment in Asia´s capital, and with almost 8 million people crammed into a land mass about the size of downtown Vancouver, it´s amazing that anyone can even breathe. Good thing that, surprisingly enough, there is more green space there than most cities in the world.

A lack of space doesn´t deter all Hong Kong residents. One Hong Kong architect found a way to transform his tiny 300 sq. ft. studio apartment into 24 separate rooms using a little elbow grease and a lot of imagination.

By making use of sliding walls, set up on tracks in the ceiling (that he disguises with mirrors), he is able to not only create an illusion of space, but also camoflauge the idea that his room is a moving one.

You can watch the incredible video here: Man turns apartment into 24 rooms.

Living in downtown Vancouver has its limitations as well, fewer people are buying king-sized mattresses because of space concerns. Some are settling for futons or even the couch! The reality of the situation is that you can almost always make room for a proper night´s sleep. If you are a couple, a queen-sized bed, preferably a Beautyrest from Vancouver mattress retailer Simmons Mattress Gallery, is the absolute minimum in terms of co-habitation comfort. Spring for a king, or even better, a Beautyrest Black that will let you sprawl out in luxuriant comfort in your own home. After all, if you have the space, you best not take it for granted.

Or as this architect would say, "Enjoy the gift of space."
