On Election Day: Drain The Swamp Of The Likes Of George Allen
After having seen hundreds of hard-hitting political ads, many voters are persuaded that all politicians are corrupt and maybe they should sit out this election.
But too much is at stake for us not to exercise the privilege and responsibility of voting. The Republicans have controlled the White House and both chambers of Congress for too long; they have allowed their near absolute power to corrupt them.
Our “President Gone Wild” wiretaps Americans without obtaining court warrants; starts wars without a moral or strategic basis and tramples the Constitution on an almost daily basis.
To quote Nancy Pelosi, “it’s time to drain the swamp.” Voters should hand the Democrats control of both chambers of Congress as a counterbalance to the imperial presidency of George W. Bush.
Here in Virginia I will be exceedingly happy to vote Republican Sen. George Allen out of office. Mr. Macaca has run one of the meanest and most inept senatorial campaigns in modern political history.
Good citizens don’t despair, the negative ads have almost run their course and our democracy will survive. I urge everyone next Tuesday to vote against the “culture of corruption” and elect some shiny new Democratic faces to Congress.
