China, North Korea and the US Ostrich Syndrome

The list of reasons why China supports a "belligerent" North Korea are numerous. It is doubtful if China really feels threatened by that "crazy dictator". After all, they did not support many of the harsher sanctions even though the nuclear (yes, that is right, Nuclear) tests were in there backyard. Nor was much clamor heard from Russia. Can you imagine if there was nuclear test in Mexico or Canada? So enough, please, from the political pundits who are constantly reiterating the same line about China and North Korea. The line is, in a nutshell, that China is going to get North Korea in line because we told them too. I am sorry but, for the first time, probably in the history of geopolitical analysis, I have to get ghetto so these fools understand. Sorry, if I break any Ancient Traditions.

To those in the media and politics who do not understand. China don't give a damn what the US wants her to do. China gonna' do whats good for China. What? Because we are the big bad USA every country in the world is gonna' do what we tell it. No, brothers and sisters that paradigm is over. For instance, check out our Democracy experiment in Iraq. Them Iraqi's is like "@#$% you and your mother@$#@ Democracy!" As me and my boys used to say; "They aren’t feelin' us right now."

Maybe, if we get ourselves together here in the US, like teaching students how to read with textbooks that are less than 20 years old, providing healthcare that doesn't require you to be a billionaire and thinking that we are so infallible that we don't have to listen to the rest of the world; then perhaps the rest of the world might listen to what we have to say.

Let me put it in street terms. The word is out that the US has been runnin' around kickin' peoples ass, lyin', stealin', talkin' shit and takin' other peoples shit. I could put it more eloquently but for now I will leave that to Naom Chomsky. So the word is out on the US and countries are preparing in what ever way they can to defend themselves when the bully comes their way.

The leftist revolution happening in South America is no coinky dink. Iran firing up the nuclear program is more than just energy. Even the head of the Iraqi government said he is no puppet and he would probably be dead already if America was not there.

As we run around the world shouting "Democracy! Democracy!" but our actions are imperial, well, we give Democracy bad name and push the rest of the world away from it. For the US it has gone from losing friends and allies to being hated and loathed. No man is an island and neither is any Superpower

The days of, a little propaganda here, a little coup' de tat over there, are over. Hell, they were over with the Shah of Iran. The advances in communications, especially the internet, are transforming paradigms every day. Many say that you can trust the Internet. They will say anything on the Internet. There is too much information on the Internet. Well, guess what, News Flash people. Back in the day that same mother load of information that has been deemed so worthless used to be called Intelligence and at the time it was precious and hard to come by. At least with the Internet you have something to siphon through and pieces to work with.

You can get bad intelligence anywhere, like the information that got America into the trillion dollar war in Iraq. Maybe, if someone had actually done some research on the Internet they would have gleaned some alternative opinions.

What is happening with China and North Korea is emblematic of what is going on around the world. Our leadership is operating with an arrogance and hubris that is unparalleled in our time. Our foreign policy and military policy is revealing itself to be a failure. Yes, America should have the most powerful military in the world. There is no doubt that we have the "big stick". But, Teddy Roosevelt said, "Talk softly and carry a big stick". There is nothing soft about phrases like, "Axis of Evil", "wanted dead or alive" and "get out of town in 48 hours". When did US politics and diplomacy degenerate into a John Wayne movie featuring Cooter and Jethro?

I was going to say that soon our politicians were going to strap on holsters and start firing into the air while they hooted and hollered, 'YEE!!! HAW!!!. Then I remembered that Dick Cheney had already done his Wyatt Earp interpretation. Maybe the blessing is that it was a lawyer and a friend of his. But, if America keeps on operating the way it has been, during this Administration, we are going to shoot ourselves and our friends in the foot.

RED: Andy crawled to freedom through five hundred yards of shit-smelling foulness I can't even imagine. Or maybe I just don't want to. Five hundred yards. The length of five football fields. Just shy of half a mile.
