Founded in 1963. Offers Diploma in technical skills
Tamil Nadu Open University, Chennai
It was set up by an Act of the Legislative Assembly of the Government of Tamil Nadu for those who do have access to higher education especially destitute, like the physically challenged, working people, the economically weaker sections, etc. It offers diploma in four wheeler mechanism, and in plumbing technician.

Unfortunately in India the Technician Vocational Training Colleges are quite diversely distributed that provide training in a scattered way. But in future, there is hope that such specialized colleges will stem out and fill in the gaps in employment and opportunities.
