Vocational Training prepares you for specific work, trade or occupation. It sculpts you into a skilled worker. Technician Vocational Training Colleges have courses that include manual and practical training. It is hands-on-training, and has long been considered as the vital bridge between formal learning and the working world. The primary aim of such courses is to make people self reliant and capable of earning by themselves. Though still part of the unorganized sector, vocational training has been able to guarantee employment opportunities to a major section of the population.
Vocational education is offered on either full time or part time basis. It can also be a distance learning course.
Sharda Group of Institutions (SGI)
Was established in 1996. Offers a number of vocational courses. Most of the component colleges are affiliated to the Uttar Pradesh Technical University.
Center for Technology Training, New Delhi
Set up in 1996. It offers training in Networking, Telecom, Communication Technologies, etc.

Offers Diploma in Electrician and Domestic Appliance Maintenance, and Diploma in Automobile Techniques.
Nettur Technical Training Foundation (NTTF), Bengaluru
Founded in 1963. Offers Diploma in technical skills
Tamil Nadu Open University, Chennai
It was set up by an Act of the Legislative Assembly of the Government of Tamil Nadu for those who do have access to higher education especially destitute, like the physically challenged, working people, the economically weaker sections, etc. It offers diploma in four wheeler mechanism, and in plumbing technician.
Visva Bharati University, Birbhum
Offers certificate program in wood work.
Janardan Rai Nagar Rajasthan Vidyapeeth University, Udaipur
Started in 1937, it offers certificate diploma in electrical services, certificate diploma in electronic services.

Set up in 1988 by the Government of India to provide technical education and to meet the technical manpower requirements in remote and rural areas. Offers – Certificate course in welding technology.
Central Tool Room And Training Center, Bhubaneswar
Offers two certificate programs – in advance machine maintenance, and in advance machining.

Set up in 1979. Grants Certificate course in electronic equipment maintenance (radio, television, mobile).

Started functioning in 1996, with its certificate course in clicking and material technology.

Was established in 1968 by the Government of India, in assistance with the UNDP and ILO. Offers Advance Diploma in Machinist.
Hindi Vidya Prachar Samiti's Ramniranjan Jhunjhunwala College, Mumbai
Came into existence in 1963, and offers diploma in electronic equipment maintenance.
JSS College Of Arts, Mysore
Was set up in 1964 by JSS Mahavidyapeetham. Offers diploma in electrical and electronic equipment maintenance.
GT Computer Hardware Engineering College, Jaipur
Offers post graduate diploma in mobile phone maintenance.

It was founded in 1958 as a department of Shri Shivaji College. And became an independent body in 1969. It offers Certificate Course in Electronics.
Netaji Subhash Open University, Kolkata
It was established by the West Bengal Act of 1997, and is recognized by the U.G.C. It offers Certificate in Automobile Repair and Maintenance.
Unfortunately in India the Technician Vocational Training Colleges are quite diversely distributed that provide training in a scattered way. But in future, there is hope that such specialized colleges will stem out and fill in the gaps in employment and opportunities.
