Tips On How To Get Rid Of Sweat Stains On Your Mattress

One of the problems you have to deal with in a mattress is sweat stain. During very hot summer nights, you can´t help but experience night sweats. While your sweat does not really do much damage to your mattress, it can cause stains. Yellowish stains can appear on the surface of the mattress after some time.

Sweat is also not sanitary. Our body purges out toxins in the form of sweat. This can lead to the formation of molds, bacteria and germs on the surface of your mattress. Cleaning it is necessary if you don´t want to sleep together with harmful micro organisms. Here are the cleaning tips that can get rid of the stains:

1. Use lemon juice. The bleaching properties of lemon can help remove the yellowish stains not only your mattress but also on other fabric. Squeeze one cup of lemon juice and dilute it in one cup of warm water. Put the solution in a spray bottle and spray it on the surface of the mattress. If you do not have a spray bottle, just pour the mixture in a basin and use sponge or clean towel. Dip the towel or sponge and wring out the excess. Blot it out on the surface of the mattress. Allow it to dry for at least an hour until the stains are completely gone. Wipe the surface of the mattress with a towel dampened with clean water. Dry the mattress completely.

2. White vinegar also works. This has the same cleaning efficacy as lemon juice. Use one cup of white vinegar and add it to one cup of water. Also put it in a spray bottle. This will make it easier to clean the mattress. Spray both sides of the mattress. Allow the solution to settle for an hour. Just like the previous step, use a damp towel to remove vinegar residues on the surface of the mattress. If you don´t fancy the smell of white vinegar, sprinkle baking soda. It can help diffuse bad odor. Leave baking soda on top of the mattress for at least one hour. When the smell is already gone, vacuum the mattress to get rid of the residues.

3. Use dishwashing liquid. Dissolve mild dishwashing liquid in warm water until soap suds appear. Use the suds to clean your mattress. Get soft-bristled brush and brush the soap suds on the surface of the mattress. Since sweat is also made up of body oil, dishwashing liquid can easily remove it.
