Classic Championship Wrestling - Event Wrap-up 10.27.06

While Kentuckiana was riding out the cold snap until Sunday, when relief was in sight, the autumn chill meant another Fall Classic was ready to emerge - Classic Championship Wrestling. With the inaugural Tag Team and Heavyweight champions set to be crowned, along with an under card featuring not only CCW superstars, but prospects from CCW's training center, this special Friday night event promised, without a doubt, the strongest line-up in the promotion's short history!

Opening Match: Jebidiah Blackhawk vs. J-Mo

Jebidiah Blackhawk came into tonight's action looking to put away CCW prospect J-Mo, who has been concentrating on his training since making a splash last month, nearly stealing a singles win against Vito Andretti! Blackhawk, not on his first trip around the block, surely had in mind the lengths the rookie might go to to pull off a big win.

Blackhawk started off the match exercising his height, weight, and strength advantages, frustrating J-Mo as well as constantly keeping him on the defensive. After a couple of near-falls, Blackhawk switched his attention to the legs of J-Mo, showing that along with having a height, weight, and strength edge, it never hurts to have experience on your side, either.

Catching a break with a reversal on a leg lock, J-Mo would mount his first offense of the night, but it would prove to be short-lived, as Blackhawk was simply overwhelming, steamrolling the rookie, who found himself on the business end of a three-count following a big body slam by Blackhawk.

2nd Match: Chris Alexander & Matt Maverick vs. The Prophet & Kris Kanton

The Prophet found himself teaming with CCW prospect Kris Kanton in a tag team showdown with Matt Maverick, who was alongside CCW Commissioner Chris Alexander, who would do his part to bring the Halloween spirit, making his entrance in full Trick or Treat regalia!

Prophet and Maverick started the match off, with Prophet using a handful of tights to power Maverick into his corner, bringing in Kanton for a series of quick tag/double team maneuvers. Maverick, on quite a roll as of late, escaped with a set of monkey flips before managing to tag in Alexander. While Prophet and Kanton may have had the edge size wise, Alexander and Maverick showed their previous experiences in the tag team ranks, as the two jelled well together as a tandem.

After Kanton had been run through the wringer, courtesy of Alexander and Maverick, Prophet would re-enter the action, only to fall victim to the shift in momentum. Prophet may have been thinking two or three moves ahead, though, as he cut off Maverick mid-stream with an inverted stunner. From there, Prophet and Kanton fired at will on Maverick. Another near-fall led to a distraction and switch by Kanton, as they looked to wear Maverick down and keep him down. A bulldog headlock by Maverick would ignite a comeback, as Alexander would go berserk upon entering the ring after finally being tagged in.

As order broke down, Maverick would find himself the victim of the numbers games, alone in the ring with both Prophet and Kanton. With help from the trusty tomahawk Prophet brings to the ring with him, Kris Kanton would score the pin as Prophet took care of Chris Alexander on the outside.

3rd Match: Big E vs. Randy Royal

Randy Royal, with fellow Brute Squad members K-Lo and Guido Andretti in tow, hit ringside at the CCW Arena looking to pick up another win for the stable against Big E, CCW prospect. While Big E was obviously thrilled to be making an in-ring appearance, you know the 3-on-1 edge in Randy Royal's corner was weighing somewhere in the back of his mind.

Royal was clearly not impressed with his opponent for the evening, throwing the newcomer around the ring with ease, trying to embarrass his opponent and force some youthful mistakes. What he did was light a fire underneath Big E, who would fire off a couple big body slams of his own in response!

Royal wasn't buying much, and despite a couple of back and forth exchanges, had the match in his favor, although Big E was proving to be more of a run for the money than Royal thought. Going after Big E's legs, with a little help from K-Lo, Royal not only brought the pain to the CCW prospect, but also applied an even coat, taking advantage of some timely arguing between K-Lo and Senior Official James Hardin to land a devastating chair shot on his opponent.

Incredulous when the effort would prove to be enough to put Big E down for the count, Royal went back to the legs, although a figure four reversal would help put the rookie right back into the match. In a prime example of going to the well once too often, Royal wound land right smack dab in the middle of an upset, as Big E would counter another figure four attempt with an inside cradle to nab the three count! This would not only bring a big boost of confidence to the youngster, but also an important lesson about the industry, and that is sometimes discretion is the better part of valor. While celebrating a huge win is never considered bad form, doing so in the face of 3-on-1odds is also not usually advisable. The Brute Squad would lay down a beating on Big E, looking to save a little face, but the Fat N the Furious would arrive on the scene before they could take full advantage of Big's E's isolation.

4th Match: The Marksmen vs. Suave Jimbob & Foster Homes

As the Marksmen (Marcus and Elmore Fudd), along with Elma Fudd, returned to tag team action, they were looking to take two more CCW prospects to school. For Suave Jimbob and Foster Homes, they may have been thinking more about getting a little spotlight time as opposed to more schooling, but they certainly looked ready to go against a veteran tag team.

While the Marksmen went through the motions in the early goings, hardly breaking a sweat, their young opponents showed they weren't going to be easy, or at least quick, keeping Marcus and Fudd off-balance on occasion. It was getting Foster homes out on the floor that Marcus and Fudd showed how their tag team earned the reputation they have. Throw in the presence of Elma Fudd at ringside, and things were not immediately looking great for Jimbob and Homes.

The punishment reached its peak as Fudd ascended to the top rope to deliver the final blow. Homes would just avoid certain doom, rolling out of the way and making his way to tag in Suave Jimbob. While Jimbob certainly leveled the score, Marcus and Fudd were not quite done yet, or so they thought.

As Marcus disposed of Jimbob to the outside, Fudd was regaining control over homes as they looked to sneak out of CCW Arena with another win. As Fudd hooked Homes for a bulldog headlock, Homes would counter, pushing Fudd off into Marcus, in turn sending him out of the ring. Realizing the moment he was in, Homes schoolboyed Fudd to hit the three count and propel his team to a improbable, but hard-fought win. While the Marksmen obviously didn't look too thrilled over the result of the match, one could only imagine the conversation that went down in the back when this one was all said and done.

5th Match: The Fat N The Furious vs. HNIC vs. The Bad Medicines vs. The Brute Squad - Fatal 4-Way for the CCW Tag Team Championship

With the action still boiling over from Tuesday night, this not only had championship, but personal implications as well. This was the biggest match for all four teams in their CCW careers, so everything was going to put out on the line in this one.

While the match was initially slow to start (during which time both Bad Medicines took a cheap shot, courtesy of both Vito and Guido Andretti), once it did start, the action was fast-paced, with all four teams trying to stay in the thick of things.

The Bad Medicines, while putting up some early offense, were eliminated first, compliments of a big top rope legdrop from JB Thunder, who would then in turn be pinned by Jack Black following the Black Out. This would leave the Brute Squad to face the Fat N The Furious for the honor of being named the very first Classic Championship Wrestling Tag Team Champions!

The Brute Squad would assume control, as K-Lo and Guido poured on the offense, battering Vito. A top-rope legdrop from K-Lo would be just a second late in arriving allowing Vito just enough time to tag in Jack Black. This would leave all four men in the ring, battling for control. A double irish whip would backfire, as Vito and Guido would collide, opening the door for a low-blow by K-Lo on Black.

The Brute Squad would continue to punish the FNF, but some crossed signals led to a Fatliner by Black for the pin, bringing the Fat N The Furious tag team gold! Expect to see these two teams collide again over the straps soon, and expect a brawl when it does happen!

CCW Owner Marcus and Commissioner Chris Alexander then came out, displaying the new CCW Heavyweight Championship belt. Alexander said that there would be a winner tonight, even if the belt had to change hands on a disqualification! With the rules set for falls count anywhere, the DQ rule guaranteed a match of the year candidate in tonight's main event!

Main Event: "Smooth" Johnny Spade (with Miss Hollywood) vs. "The Old School Player" Dynamite Derrick, Falls Count Anywhere for the CCW Heavyweight Championship

The most highly anticipated match in CCW history to date (Take Two) started off a pier six brawl from the opening bell as Spade was looking for payback, and all the spoils that go along with it, swarming Derrick with hard right hands and impact moves. This falls count anywhere match didn't take long to venture away from the ring, as Spade scored the first near-fall of the contest in the vicinity of the concession stand!

Ducking a clothesline to score one of his own, Derrick grounded Spade with grappling moves, trying to regroup and plot his next course of action. As the anger mounted with each two-count he got on Spade, Derrick further turned up the intensity, pushing the rules and Senior Official James Hardin to the breaking point, keeping in mind the DQ rule Chris Alexander had put in place. Even a huge top-rope elbow was not going to be enough to put away Spade at that point in the match.

While Derrick was controlling the pace of the match, the argument could be made that he was taking a bit too long on executing his moves. This would prove true sooner than thought, as Spade would block another big top rope move by Derrick, hitting a tornado DDT to counter. As Spade struggled to launch a comeback, disaster struck, as Derrick, thinking just as quickly, brought his knees up to block a Spadeton, leaving the fan favorite dazed.

As the match wound down, Dynamite Derrick perhaps sensed the time was right for his master plan. Approaching the press box, Derrick soon produced a chain! James Hardin caught this immediately, but that in its own was the key part of the plan, as Derrick used the moment Hardin's back was turned to hit Spade with a handful of powder he had sneaked in along with the chain!

Miss Hollywood had seen enough, as she slid into the ring to stop Derrick's dirty tricks. Scouting Spade relentlessly for the last couple of weeks proved to be a smart move for the "Old School Player," as he would shove the petite blond into the path of Spade. Still blinded from the powder, Spade would deliver a spinebuster to Hollywood instead! Shocked when he came around, Spade would never see it coming. Then again, they usually don't. Checking on Miss Hollywood, Spade was oblivious to Derrick warming up for the Supa Playa Kick, and POW! Three seconds later, the plan was successful. For all the cockiness and boasting, in the end, Dynamite Derrick had backed up his word, as he hoisted the CCW Heavyweight Title high over his head. All Spade could do was sit back and shake his head, knowing that once again, his former friend had figured out a way to steal one from him. I get the feeling we have seen the end of just the first chapter in this saga.
