Montreal-based hockey specialist Classic Auctions wrapped up their big fall sports memorabilia auction this week with some high ticket items stretching more than a few budgets.

A recently-uncovered game-worn Bobby Orr jersey from the 1968-69 season sold for $83,544.90 (US Dollars).

Earlier this year, a 1973-74 autographed Orr game jersey was sold by Classic for over $134,000.

A collection of 100,000 photos taken by noted photographer Denis Brodeur was pulled from the auction after reaching a high bid of $345,000. It was reported Thursday morning that the National Hockey League and Montreal Canadiens had reached a deal to purchase the collection.

An explanation on the company website states: "At this time, Mr. Denis Brodeur wishes to withdraw his collection from the auction. We are presently negociating an agreement for the purchase of his collection with a private organisation and in order to go forward in our negociations, Mr. Brodeur prefers that the lot be withdrawn from the auction."

Brodeur shot over 1500 games beginning in 1968 and had consigned his holdings to the company.

The other major items that were part of the Classic Auctions sale included:

1930s Russ Blinco Montreal Maroons jersey $53,529;

1985-86 Patrick Roy rookie jersey $27,230;

Jean Beliveau's 1972-73 Stanley Cup ring $19,487;

1996 Wayne Gretzky jersey $17,715 and

Sidney Crosby rookie jersey $14,123.
