America Where Are You?

Stan Grimes
Over three years ago President Bush announced to the world that major combat efforts were over in Iraq. Over two thousand dead soldiers and over twenty thousand wounded soldiers later, President Bush urges America to "stay the course." One might ask, what course? There is no course; however, there is a lesson…the United States cannot save a world that doesn't want to be saved.

North Korea has nuclear weapons and is testing them. Iraq had no nuclear weapons. North Korea is considered a mere fly in the ointment. Iraq was considered a major threat. Iran is building nuclear capabilities. Iran is receiving a free pass to continue its course. Osama is believed to be hiding in the mountains of Pakistan. Pakistan has nuclear capabilities. Afghanistan has been pronounced stable. The arm of the Taliban militant is rising from its grave in Afghanistan.

Americans have grown frustrated with their corrupted government, a government that was in session for less than a third of 2006. Politicians have reached a pinnacle of ineptitude unprecedented in the history of our nation, but its citizens continue to remain silent, content to see their incomes drop and their medical bills rise.

CNN's Jack Cafferty has encouraged Americans to throw out incumbents. Don't vote for them he says. I ask, of what good will that do? The politicians that are voted into office will more than likely follow the same corrupt course of his/her predecessors. Pork barrel politics is the shibboleth in Washington nowadays.

Unless Americans stand up and choose new blood for our government, our government will follow the ancient Greek democracy to its grave. A third party, a party built by citizens for its citizens must be created. A vote for Republicans or Democrats is a vote for more corruption. A two-party system is no longer workable. Americans need more than the two current choices, "bad and worse."

A national medical system must be created and poor working people must be paid more in order to have a chance for the same American dream our politicians have lived for years. Pay the politician minimum wage and wait, wait to see how long it takes for minimum wage to increase. The borders must be sewn shut, lobbyists must be tossed out, and our criminal system must be re-invented. We no longer need low-life child molesters, crooked judges and attorneys, rapists, murderers, racists, and bad boy cops in our country.

Separation of church and state must be reestablished. We don't need radical religionists running our government. We need leaders, unbiased and reasonable. No one should use God as their excuse for starting wars, passing illogical bills, giving someone a job, or sending someone to jail.

We don't want any smokers in our restaurants, but every pedophile in America can eat at McDonalds, which dastardly social problem is going after your children? Second hand smoke might kill your child if he/she is not abducted by some sick perverted low-life first. How can we sleep at night knowing that America still isn't caring for its children and its elderly citizens adequately?

I could continue this rage for about another ten pages, but I'm tired and I have to go to bed. I've got to go to work so I can support the IRS.
