First and foremost, you should measure your body fat percentage with the use of a body fat analyzer or a body fat scale. Do this before making dietary changes or engaging in exercises so that you will have a baseline in monitoring your progress.

Then, you should engage in strength training and aerobic exercises. Remember to work your quadriceps or thighs, hamstring, glutes or rear end, back, chest, shoulders, arms, and abdominals, as these are your body´s major muscle groups. Do lots of reps in small amounts. Train your muscles to be strong without overexerting them. Aerobic exercises will increase the number of calories that you burn and will even enhance your endurance.

Another helpful activity is to do pilates. Pilates will strengthen your core, and will give you flatter abs, a smaller waistline, and a more muscular back. It will also build and lengthen the muscles in your limbs over time. When you stretch, you should remember to relax and breathe, and to hold the position for at least thirty seconds. Stretch your back, your legs, your sides, and your arms, and remember to exhale as you push the stretch.

Last but not the least, you should watch out for your diet. Slow down on processed carbohydrates and high fat proteins. Instead, stick to lean meats like chicken and fish, and vegetables. As you can see, the answer to the question "how to have a lean body" is to expend more calories than you consume. Any activity that you do burns calories and will help you create a caloric deficit.
