Another Great Book For Families: Disneyland Encyclopedia

While summer is a great time of the year for vacation there is one place you can go where it is always sunny and cheerful any time of the year; Disneyland! I have many fond memories of visiting Disneyland with my family, and now you can get a inside glimpse of the magic that makes this theme park popular in Chris Strodder's new guide, The Disneyland Encyclopedia.

Chris has filled this excellent guide with meticulous details that will make your next visit to Disneyland even more entertaining. I really enjoyed learning about the history that spans over 50 years to the present. Did you realize that there are 500 Disneyland Lands? Neither did I until I read Chris Strodder's new guide, The Disneyland Encyclopedia.

Each little tidbit in this unique A-to-Z chronicle of Disneyland history is a tribute to Walt Disney's imagination and his ability to transform his dreams into reality. The book includes simple and clear maps that helped us pinpoint the location of each entry. Plus, there are compelling sidebars that have extra information about the park's past we did not know like which are the longest and shortest rides, or which ones are the fastest. One of my favorite parts of the The Disneyland Encyclopedia was reading about the classic A-to-E ticket books I recall from my youth.

There are also interesting pieces of trivia you can use to dazzle your friends and family the next time you visit Disneyland. Among these are fascinating trivia about long-lost Disneyland features, from the real rifles in the shooting gallery that used to be located on Main Street to the jet-packed Rocket Man who flew above Tomorrowland. Then there's the Matterhorn's secret basketball court, the legendary Club 33, the futuristic Bathroom of Tomorrow, the live lagoon mermaids, the spectacular parades, and the Hidden Mickey's we always hear so much about.

Along with great history and background on Disneyland, Chris has also added hundreds of photos! Chris Strodder works as a Web site editor/designer and teacher while also writing books, including "The Encyclopedia of Sixties Cool," "Swingin' Chicks of the '60s," the young-adult novels "Lockerboy" and "The Wish Book," and a collection of short stories, "Stories Light and Dark." He lives in Mill Valley, California.
