Obesity Linked To Brain Decline
That extra tonnage increases your risk for getting diabetes, causes menstrual abnormalities, makes you prone to sleep apnea, leads to breathing problems, damages your joints, is terrible for your blood pressure, limits your mobility, wreaks havoc with your skin, damages the liver, lowers your stamina, is associated with various forms of cancer, takes years of your life, is a strain on your ticker, affects your mental health, limits your wardrobe options, makes you an object of ridicule and is a disaster for your romantic life.
And now according to a new study, gaining weight also lowers your intelligence. French researchers at Toulouse University found that people with a Body Mass Index - a measure of body fat - of 20 or less could recall 56 per cent of words in a vocabulary test, while the obese, with a BMI of 30 or higher, could remember only 44 per cent.
This sobering study should cause those who are obese to think twice, if they can still think, before they gobble another bag of Doritos or devour another pizza.
Unfortunately, there are many charlatans and touchy-feely types who counsel the obese to accept the way they are and feel good about themselves. They discourage the obese from taking responsibility for their condition and losing weight.
I'm aware there are a few people who are obese because of medical conditions. This essay is not for these individuals, it's for those who are too lazy to exercise and too stupid to eat sensibly.
Fatheads, listen to Dr. Robert and start exercising and eating sensibly, or you might get so big that your I.Q. will match the room temperature.
