Swindler Bernard Madoff Assaulted In Prison

"Bernard Madoff, the swindler who orchestrated a multibillion dollar fraud, was attacked by another inmate at the federal prison where he is serving a 150-year sentence, the Wall Street Journal reported, citing three people familiar with the matter.

The report said that the attack occurred last December. After it, Madoff was moved to a low-security medical center for treatment, where he was treated for a broken nose, fractured ribs and cuts to his head and face, according to a felon currently at the prison in Butner, N.C." Reuters

Bernard Madoff's Ponzi scheme bilked billions from a few high-profile clients, and thousands of ordinary investors.

Hardworking Americans trusted in Maddoff to invest their money in the stock market. These hapless investors saw their retirement savings disappear into thin air. I can imagine how helpless they felt, knowing that there was no way they would ever recoup any of their losses.

I hope that's how impotent Maddoff, 71, felt when he was beaten by a fellow convict. The old swindler could only feebly try to deflect the blows.

If I knew the name of the con who assaulted Maddoff, I would mail him a carton of cigarettes. I hope Maddoff isn't killed behind bars, the swindler profited from his crimes for decades, and he deserves to suffer at least a few years in prison.
