Thermostatic Shower

The latest additions to luxurious bathroom fittings are the thermostatic showers. These showers are the best options for someone who is choosing a new arrangement of standard showers. In case you are renovating or constructing a new home, the option of thermostatic showers must definitely be considered, although the budget for the same must be considered too. The most important feature of these showers is that they have a built--in temperature regulator within the shower unit itself. These automatic regulators maintains the temperature at a pre--set value-- which is specified by the user -- and adjust the flow of water in each supply according to the temperature regulating instructions. For instance, if the water is beginning to become colder, the thermostatic device fit inside the shower will automatically cut down the flow of water by closing down the supply of cold water in the mixer. This will do little to compensate for the variations. This is especially of use for protection against any chance of scalding. If a WC below is using the flush while someone upstairs is in the shower, there would be a sudden drop in the cold water supply that the shower gets. In this instance, a normal shower would have a sudden influx of hot water. However, with a built in thermostatic device, thermostatic showers cut the flow of hot water immediately to sufficiently compensate for the drop in flow of cold water.

However, it should be clearly kept in mind before installation that these showers will not be able to cope in case of great variations in the pressure. It is for this reason that it is advised to not install these showers in case the cold water supply comes directly from the rising main. In homes where the supply for both hot and cold water s from a tank in attic, there will be no pressure difference due to gravity and therefore the supply will be similar. (Also, it should be kept in mind that the pressure of hot water that is being pumped into the hot water cylinder depends entirely on the pressure of cold water that goes in as replacement into the tank in attic).

Many varieties of thermostatic showers are available –- both with dealers as well as online – varying price range, the cheapest option being showers made in China. Most popular brands of thermostatic showers in UK include aqualisa, hudson reed and bristan. The prices vary according to style and design, the average price being £ 350. When choosing thermostatic showers that you would want to install, it is important to check and note the supplier´s details about the input value of maximum temperature. The showers would not be able to cope with inputs beyond a certain value, so the temperature must be adjusted accordingly. When it comes to installation, the only difference between a thermostatic shower and normal shower is that the latter can be provided with branching off the available plumbing keeping in mind that it is better to have the cold tank nearer to the hot cylinder.
