Extremely humid conditions may be a cause for diseases. Experts say that the growing season must be long enough for grapes to mature adequately.

You have to decide which type of grapes you want to use. Usually, red and white wines are produced by different types of grapes. There are also some wines that are made from a blend of different grapes. Now, choose a location to plant your grapevines. Take into account the fact that the plants will flourish on ground that slopes more to the south or southwest, as they will receive more sunlight. Keep away from planting near trees; well you don´t want your grapes to be shaded from the sun. The roots shouldn´t be continually saturated with water, thus the soil should allow for good drainage.



You will need to provide support for your grapevines. In order to keep the fruit off the ground, training or trellising system with appropriate height and system must be supplied. You can sell your grapes to a local winery to turn the grapes into wine or you can also produce the wine yourself.
