Outdoor Recreation At Little River Canyon National Preserve
While there is no camping within Little River Canyon National Preserve, there are plenty of recreation options available; including fishing, kayaking, ATV Riding, and Bird Watching. Within the Backcountry Area you can also go horseback riding or Mountain biking along 23 miles of dirt and chert roads. Little River Canyon National Preserve offers many recreation opportunities for families as well. Enjoy a picnic after hiking within the Canyon Mouth Picnic Area, which is 2 mile hike roundtrip or the 1.8 mile loop trail of Beaver Pond Trail. Those who consider hiking a weekend adventure can continue on along the 3/4 mile Eberhart trail that takes you to the bottom of the canyon. It is considered to be rather strenuous challenge, so be sure to save enough strength to hike back out of the canyon.
Little River Canyon National Preserve is an ideal place for Photographers because it overlooks offer beautiful views of the canyon, which are blanketed in bright colors and Spring begins and especially in the fall. While Professional Photographers must must have a permit and contact the Superintendent of the Preserve for approval prior to taking photographs/filming, avid Photographers are free to capture the scenery and wildlife.
