In playing Texas Holdem Poker, it is recommended that you make use of the advantages of the different positions. However, this is often easier said than done, especially when you are seated at the Texas Holdem Early Position. Oftentimes, being the first person to act poses more disadvantages than advantages.

The Texas Holdem Early Position is also referred to as the player who is under the gun. Before the flop, this is the worst position in the table. After the flop, your seat is also as good as a junk. This is because you are the first person to act, which means you have to place a bet to see how all your opponents will act.

Being under the gun means you can limp into the pot with a strong hand. The worst case scenario is when one player posts a large raise before the flop and all the other players fold. This puts you on the spot because you either call the large raise given that you have a strong hand or fold because the other player might not be bluffing at all.

If you are thinking that you can get out of this position after the flop, better think again. You will remain as the first person to act all throughout the other betting rounds. If the odds go against you, you can be sure that you will lose a good chunk of your chip stack. In some cases, this situation forces novice players out of the table early in the game.

While the Texas Holdem Early Position appears to be the worst place around the poker table, this does not mean that you are in deep trouble all the time. You can always come up with strategies so you can turn the odds to your favor. Learn more about early position strategies so you can get through the worst position at the Texas Holdem poker table.
