Billy Graham's Last New York Crusade

On June 24-26th., in Corona Park, Queens. Rev. Billy Graham had a packed house for what they say may be his last New York Crusade. The 86 year old preacher had special assistance from his son, Franklin Graham. Franklin was ready to preach in the event Rev. Billy Graham was not able to finish. Rev. Graham suffers from several different types of illinesses. one of them being Parkinson's Disease.

His sermon was about thirty to forty minutes in length and spoke of the need of salvation. "We are Christians maybe. We go to church. We've been baptized, we've been confirmed. But deep inside we need something else, and that something else can be brought about by Jesus," he told the crowd.

There were different public figures who attended the event, such as former president Bill Clinton and Senator Hilary Rodham Clinton, entertainers from the christian music circle, such as Jars of Clay, Micheal W. Smith, Steven Curtis Chapman and several other special guests.

Appearing Friday and Sunday nights: Cliff Barrows and a 1,200-voice choir, George Beverly Shea and the Tommy Coomes band. As a member of the choir myself, I can only tell you what an impact this had on my own personal life.

This is an event that will stay with you for a life time. The last time he preached was in 1957, at Madison Square Garden. I was not even born yet and never thought I would be able to experience an event that would change my whole life. Rev. Billy Graham is truly an insperation, not only in my own life, but the lives of many others as well.

Being in the catagory of "generation X", not many people in this age range care to much for the teachings of Jesus. I must say, he touched many people of my generation who were brought to tears looking up to the sky - praying for the Lord Jesus to come into their lives and be their Lord and Savior.

This is a man who will go down in the history books. He is a man who cares, he is a man full of love, he is truly a man of God. Thank you Rev. Billy Graham for preaching a message to a hurting generation and giving hope to the hopeless. I know that being a part of this crusade changed my life. I hope it may have influenced your life as well.
